As part of the build-up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s release, Activision has confirmed that players will encounter human NPCs in the upcoming Zombies mode. The information comes from the Call of Duty: Next event where the developers outline the future of Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

On October 3, players were treated to the first look at the various multiplayer modes within Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. 12 game modes and 16 remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2 will be accessible to players when the game releases on November 10. While players have had an in-depth look at the standard PVP options, details on the accompanying Zombies mode have been kept under wraps.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Details Major Gunsmith Changes

The development team at Sledgehammer Games reveal major changes coming to the Gunsmith customization tool in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

That changed during the Call of Duty: Next livestream as the Treyarch developers announced that human NPCs will be found in the huge open-world Zombies map in Modern Warfare 3. This PMC group of hired mercenaries is connected to the devious villain Takeo Masaki, who was last seen in Black Ops 4: Zombies. This group of NPCs has set up defenses around the map to protect their hoard of Aetherium Crystals. Players will have the option of tackling the PMC with the prospect of gaining additional progression or can ignore them completely.

Those who do want to take on the PMC will have to be prepared for a challenge as the AI used in these enemies is smarter than the traditional undead hoards players are used to. To help players, the team at Treyarch suggests luring a group of zombies to the PMC bases and letting them cause havoc while players slip into the bases to loot all the precious resources. No doubt players will be able to work out their own tactics as they get to grips with the reworked Zombies mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

While players have to wait just over a month to get their hands on the full game, there will be several Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 open beta tests over the coming weeks. Players who preorder the game through either the PS5 or PS4 stores will have to access to the beta from October 6 through October 10. This will then be opened to all PlayStation players from October 8 to 10. For PC and Xbox gamers, the early access beta tests will run the following weekend from October 12 to 16, with the open beta starting on October 14.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
