Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's arrival on the older generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles has been confirmed. Call of Duty titles have always been considered needle movers on consoles from a sales perspective, whether it's on Playstation or Xbox platforms.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the third installment in the rebooted Modern Warfare series, serving as the direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2. According to the various teasers and reveal trailers, the story is set to pick up after the conclusion of the previous game, as the elite Task Force 141 goes after a dangerous adversary hellbent on plunging the world into chaos. While the rebooted series is starkly different in tone and gravitas, it often gets compared to the original's bold narrative decisions, such as the Russian invasion of the United States and the infamous No Russian mission. With the mastermind of No Russian already in Modern Warfare 3, fans are understandably eager to see if the studio will opt to deliver a darker narrative approach than Modern Warfare 2.

As the hype around the fan-favorite FPS continues to build, Xbox users were unsurprisingly left confused when TheGamingRevolution discovered that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's official page on Xbox indicated only Xbox Series X as a platform for the game, leaving out the previous generation's Xbox One. TheGamingRevolution later confirmed the game's release on the PS4 platforms, which many took as the title not arriving on Xbox One in particular. Thankfully, Microsoft's official Xbox website was updated and now correctly shows Xbox One as a viable platform.

The error had some fans concerned that Modern Warfare 3 would be skipping PS4 and Xbox One, but now the title is confirmed to be coming to all platforms minus the Switch. Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard will see future Call of Duty games come to Nintendo consoles, however.

This news should relieve many Xbox One and PS4 users who do not wish to part ways with their beloved platform and enjoy Call of Duty games. More concrete details, such as the potential return of Verdansk in Modern Warfare 3, will be officially revealed on August 17.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
