The developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are reportedly making a big flash grenade change as fans await the start of the open beta's second weekend. More changes could come in the release version this November as Activision and Sledgehammer Games gauge player feedback from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 open beta.

Modern Warfare 3's early access beta began on October 6 for PlayStation fans who pre-ordered the game. The open beta would begin just two days later on October 8 for gamers on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and early access for the cross-play beta starts on October 12. Call of Duty fans will have one last opportunity to play the beta from October 14 to October 16. Sledgehammer Games will likely continue to make adjustments to Modern Warfare 3 leading into its launch on November 10, and one of the reported adjustments could change how flash grenades work in the Call of Duty series going forward.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Leaks Hint at Advanced Warfare Crossover

Recent leaks for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 suggest that the game will have some crossover content pulled from Advanced Warfare.

Reputable Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope claims that a major change to flash grenades will be made in Modern Warfare 3. At launch, Modern Warfare 3 players may negate the blinding effect of flash grenades by simply facing away from it. Flash grenades will supposedly work similarly to those found in Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant, whereas flash grenades in previous Call of Duty games would blind players regardless of being able to dodge it or run away shortly after its detonation. Activision and Sledgehammer Games have not officially confirmed the change to flash grenades, but the rumor is already well-received by fans who recently played the open beta.

TheGhostOfHope believes the flash grenade change may be helpful for high sensitivity players in Modern Warfare 3. Moreover, some Call of Duty fans would like the Modern Warfare 3 developers to balance flash grenades correctly so that it remains useful in multiplayer. For example, Twitter user Zacb08 would like the flash grenade to retain its ear-ringing effect if the player is still in proximity to the detonation.

If the flash grenade rumor is true, it's another welcomed change that many fans have been clamoring for ahead of Modern Warfare 3's release date. Sledgehammer Games will likely share another update about changes coming to the Modern Warfare 3 open beta and the full release, so players may want to follow Call of Duty's official channels to see if flash grenades are among the items being addressed.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
