Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players believe cheating is getting "out of control" in multiplayer, with over 23,000 accounts already being banned since mid-November 2023. Despite new updates being deployed for the Ricochet anti-cheat system, many players believe the current anti-cheat efforts in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are not enough.

Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 is well underway with the limited-time "CODMAS" event, which features holiday-themed rewards and modes. Players may enjoy holiday reskins of the popular Shipment and Highrise maps in Modern Warfare 3, and the new Infectious Holiday and Snowfight modes bring new twists to the existing Infected and Gunfight. Until January 3, players may earn a new calling card, finishing move, and much more by completing Santa's Slayground challenges in Modern Warfare 3. However, the game has not brought a joyous time for all players during the holiday season since cheating still appears to be a point of contention in Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 confirms that players can currently play with Double Weapon, Player, and Battle Pass XP in-game.

In response to a tweet from the official Call of Duty Updates Twitter account, Modern Warfare 3 player Youngstown_Mafia and many other community members believe cheating is "out of control" and ruining the game. Over 23,000 accounts have been banned since November 12, but cheating still remains an issue in Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer playlists and ranked play. The community is still reporting cases of cheaters using aimbot software and other hacks to gain an unfair advantage. Players are also unhappy with the reporting systems in Modern Warfare 3 since skilled fans who aren't using cheat tools are getting reported and banned.

Many others point out that the 23,000 banned accounts make up a minuscule portion of the player base, as hundreds of thousands of active players are playing Modern Warfare 3 on consoles and PC in the game's first season. However, some fans are hopeful that Activision and Sledgehammer Games are ramping up anti-cheat efforts in Modern Warfare 3. Machine learning detections have been deployed, which means that more cheaters may be detected and banned more quickly from Modern Warfare 3 going forward.

It's clear that cheating will continue to be a hot topic in the Modern Warfare 3 community, since many players are passionate about Sledgehammer Games improving the game's multiplayer component in future updates and seasons. If Sledgehammer Games can greatly reduce cheating in Modern Warfare 3, more players will be encouraged to support the game over the long term. Enhanced cheat protection could boost the player base's confidence in the upcoming Call of Duty 2024 as well.
