The DG-56 is a new burst-fire rifle in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 that's quickly become a favorite among many players for its fast rate of fire and superb accuracy. It's strong in the majority of engagements, and it's often only outshined in very close quarters by faster-firing guns.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 developers address the removal of a feature players are looking for and indicate that it could come back in some form.

Players who like the precision offered by burst-fire rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will love the DG-56 for the punch it packs and the surprising versatility it offers. This class setup helps make the most out of this weapon by catering to its strengths while patching up the few downsides it suffers from.

Some time after the launch of Modern Warfare 3 , the DG-58 Assault Rifle was renamed to the DG-56. This may confuse players, as there is still a gun named DG-58, but that one is under the Machine Gun category.

MW3 DG-56 Class Build

A dueling build for the DG-58 in MW3

The DG-56 excels in mid-ranged combat, but it's no slouch when it comes to fights within the 10-meter threshold. This is all thanks to its fire rate that's ever-so-slightly faster than that of its most direct competitor: the FR 5.56. This setup makes the DG-56 easier to use over longer ranges while giving it the edge it needs to compete in close quarters:

  • Muzzle: VT-7 Spiritfire Suppressor
  • Underbarrel: DR-6 Handstop
  • Stock: Recoil Reduction Buttplate
  • Grip: Varanus Steady Grip
  • Sight: Any

The Recoil Reduction Buttplate combined with any muzzle device that provides Gun Kick Control makes firing the DG-56 much smoother. Reticles won't shake as much when firing in bursts, which ultimately translates to better accuracy over long range. Suppressors are generally recommended to help keep players off the map, especially if they plan on holding an area instead of running around.

The DR-6 Handstop provides extra movement speed in general and while aiming down sights. Using this on any weapon helps players win more in CQB by making them harder to hit. This attachment is especially useful for SMGs, burst-fire rifles, or weapons built for Tac Stance.

For the rest of the class build, use the following:

  • Vest: Infantry
  • Gloves Marksman
  • Boots: Stalker
  • Gear: Ghost T/V

Marksman gloves are great for mid-long-range fights since they aim sway and flinch. Meanwhile, Stalker boots synergize with the DR-6 Handstop to make players even more slippery in close range.

The Infantry vest is a great all-around option, though players might want to use the CCT Comms Vest to gain intel on enemy locations or the Gunner vest so they can use an SMG or shotgun as their secondary weapon. However, keep in mind that the former will prevent players from equipping grenades, while the latter will take away the player's Boots slot.
