The BAS-B battle rifle has already made its way to the hearts of players as one of the best guns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. It outperforms many assault rifles in mid-range fights, and it can rival even SMGs in CQB when kitted out for speed and handling.

Players who are looking for a versatile weapon in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 MP or Warzone have a lot to look forward to with the BAS-B. With the proper attachments, this gun can easily contend with some of the more specialized weapons in the game. Here are two loadouts for players who want to use the BAS-B for close and medium ranges.

Updated December 8, 2023, by Marc Santos: With the launch of Modern Warfare 3 and Waarzone Season 1, the BAS-B's semi-auto firemode now deals more damage per shot just like other battle rifles. This guide has been optimized to account for that change, and a new section dedicated for a BAS-B Warzone loadout has been added as well.

MW3 BAS-B Mid-Range Build

A mid-range BAS-B build for MW3

Like most automatic rifles, the BAS-B excels in mid-range gunfights by default. It packs a mean punch while still having manageable recoil, making it great even without any attachments. However, it only gets better once players do start tinkering with its stats.

The following MW3 BAS-B setup focuses on extending the weapon's effective range by reducing recoil even further while enhancing its accuracy:

  • Muzzle: L4R Flash Hider
  • Barrel: Bruen Venom Long Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Kimura RYN-03
  • Rear Grip: STT88 Grip
  • Sight: Optional
  • Vest: Gunner
  • Gloves: Marksman
  • Boots: Stalker
  • Gear: Any

Positives

Negatives

  • +++Recoil Control
  • +++Firing Aim Stability
  • ++Gun Kick Control
  • +Bullet Velocity & Range
  • +Vertical Recoil Control
  • +No muzzle flash
  • −−−Sprint to Fire Speed
  • −ADS Speed
  • −Aiming Idle Sway
  • −Movement Speed
  • −Sprint Speed

One of the biggest advantages of the BAS-B in MW3 is its clean stock iron sights. Attaching a scope or red dot doesn't feel as mandatory on this gun compared to some others, which means players get one additional slot for attaching a stock or magazine mod. Keep this in mind when making other BAS-B builds. For even better recoil control, use the Ravage-20 stock in place of a sight.

MW3: BAS-B Close-Range Build

A CQB build for the BAS-B in MW3

Since the BAS-B is counted as a battle rifle, expect it to have slower overall handling compared to other primary weapons. However, this can be bypassed to some extent, turning the rifle from a mid-ranged corridor camper to a close-range carbine high stopping power. This CQB MW3 BAS B build is as follows:

  • Barrel: Crippling Malice
  • Magazine: 30-Round Magazine
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Tactical Vertical Grip
  • Stock: Ravage-CS
  • Rear Grip: STT88 Grip
  • Vest: CCT Comms Vest
  • Gloves: Marksman
  • Boots: Stalker
  • Gear: Any

Key Stat Changes

Positives

Negatives

  • +Integrated Suppressor
  • ++ADS Speed
  • ++Firing Aim Stability
  • +Gun Kick Control
  • +Sprint to Fire Speed
  • +Aim Walking Speed
  • +Hipfire/Tac Stance Spread
  • +Sprint Speed
  • +Movement Speed
  • +More bullets
  • −Aiming Idle Sway
  • −Reload Quickness
  • −Recoil Control
  • −Range

With the attachment setup above, the BAS-B's recoil will increase dramatically. It will be much harder (though not impossible) to use from a distance, but it will be quicker on the draw and more reliable when used while hip-firing or when shooting from Tac Stance.

This loadout changes how the gun feels completely. Players should use this if they want to flank and win fights at very close range. They'll still get outgunned by SMGs like the Fennec or the AMR9, but this BAS-B CQB build should give them a better shot at winning against those weapons.

Warzone BAS-B Loadout

A mid-range BAS B setup for Warzone
  • Barrel: Bruen Venom Long Barrel
  • Stock: Bruen Minuteman Stock
  • Magazine: 45 Round Mag
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
  • Muzzle: Wrathguard Compensator L

Key Stat Changes

Positives

Negatives

  • ++Horizontal Recoil
  • ++Firing Aim Stability
  • ++Aiming Idle Sway
  • +Recoil Control
  • +Gun Kick Control
  • +Bullet Velocity & Range
  • +More bullets
  • −Damage Range
  • −Vertical Recoil
  • −ADS Speed
  • −Sprint to Fire Speed
  • −Movement Speed
  • −Sprint Speed
  • −Slower Reloads

This Warzone BAS-B loadout focuses more on stability than recoil control, which allows for easier follow-up shots. Aiming Idle Sway helps keep players on-target as they shoot from afar, while Firing Aim Stability reduces the overall shakiness of a weapon when firing in full-auto. Horizontal recoil reduction is preferred over vertical, since the former is harder to manually compensate for in long-ranged fights. This setup has an effective range of 42.7m, with a minimum damage range of 64m.

Since players are generally more durable in Warzone, having a larger magazine for the BAS-B is a must. The 45 Round Mag should provide more than enough firepower to handle a trio of enemies. However, players who prefer to be less sluggish can use the 30 Round Mag instead.

Due to the BAS-B's slow reload speed, bringing a reliable secondary weapon is highly recommended. An SMG like the WSP Swarm or Fennec can fill in for the BAS-B in CQB. Players can freely choose which attachments they want for these weapons, though a hipfire or Tac Stance build with extended mags is the most ideal.

Perks

  • Sleight of Hand
  • Battle Hardened
  • Resupply
  • Ghost

Sleight of Hand is here to compensate for the slower reload speeds of extended magazines. The other three are generally useful for resisting negative effects, regenerating equipment, and hiding from radar sources. There's plenty of room for changes here, and it's up to the player to determine which perks they want to swap out.
