Early details regarding Activision's next wave of PlayStation-exclusive content for Call of Duty have been shared. Yet more platform-exclusive DLC is going to be coming to both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2, despite ongoing controversy surrounding the situation. As with previous exclusive content drops on PlayStation platforms, the upcoming Call of Duty offerings won't be particularly substantial. Call of Duty players on PS4 and PS5 will appreciate receiving some free content, nonetheless.Call of Duty remains one of the most popular franchises in the world and that's due in part to it remaining multi-platform. Even so, PlayStation remains the most popular of the platforms that Call of Duty is released on. In part because Activision acknowledges that popularity, and also because PlayStation wants to keep it that way, infrequent DLC is released exclusively for PlayStation users. These releases are historically decried by PC and Xbox users, and also some fair-minded PlayStation fans, who think platform-exclusive content is wrong. That hasn't stopped or slowed the practice, however.RELATED: Sony Is Worried About Call of Duty Quality on PlayStation if Xbox Acquires the FranchiseIn the latest announcement regarding the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 season, the first details for a new round of PlayStation-exclusive Call of Duty content were released. A brief mention of a Season 04 Combat Pack was made, along with a short description. The description mentions that PlayStation Plus members will receive the Season 04 Combat Pack for free, which includes various DLC including a new Oni Operators Skin with a "carbon fiber armor-enhanced wetsuit."

Not only will there be a new Call of Duty DLC pack, but there will also be a new PlayStation-exclusive double XP day following the launch of Season 04. During the 24-hour window, all Sony players will receive Double Player XP, not just PlayStation Plus members. The event will run from June 22 at 10:00 AM PT through June 23 at 10:00 AM PT.

Season 4 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will officially start on June 14. As such, the Double Player XP day won't arrive until a week after the season's start, and on a Thursday, at that. The DLC pack also won't arrive when the season launches. It'll be downloadable starting June 21. Expect more specific details about the Season 04 Combat Pack closer to its release.

The confirmation of new PlayStation-exclusive content for Call of Duty is unlikely to create as much controversy as past announcements once did. Activision's made clear that the frustrations won't impact its decision to partner with Sony. There's also the added factor of Microsoft currently being in the process of acquiring Activision, which has left players wondering if roles will soon be reversed between PlayStation and Xbox Call of Duty fans. Only time will tell how that will work out.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 are available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
