Activision has revealed more about the launch details of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and with it announced the three-mission lineup for the Special Ops mode. Similarly to its predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Special Ops missions offer much-requested a co-op experience. The game launches officially on October 28 with a Campaign mode, Multiplayer, and Spec Ops co-op missions.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is Activision's newest iteration of its massively popular first-person shooter franchise. The game continues the campaign storyline of its predecessor, 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, in a new setting. This time players hop into the boots of Modern Warfare's Task Force 141 members in Mexico, just south of the US border, and fight against terrorists and the cartel. In addition to the campaign, the game offers multiplayer and co-op experiences.

Activision's announced the lineup for the returning co-op mode Spec Ops as part of its launch pipeline reveal. From the beginning, and including Modern Warfare 2 Early Access, players will be able to test their strengths in small teams as Spec Ops launches with three new missions. All the missions take place in the confines of the battle royale map Al Mazrah and will be replayable.

Low Profile is a mission in which players infiltrate a town inside Al Mazrah during nighttime. The aim is to recover intelligence and evidence from Al Qatala, the same terrorist organization from Modern Warfare 2's story. This includes infiltration behind enemy lines, and being stealthy is essential for success and survival. In the Denied Area mission, players are trying to destroy surface-to-air missile (SAM) turrets and allow reinforcements to enter Al Mazrah. This mission includes navigating the suburban streets with a vehicle promptly while destroying enemy assets and escaping the havoc.

Lastly, the third mission of the much-awaited return of Call of Duty Spec Ops mode is called Defender: Mt Zaya. According to Activision, this co-op mission is "a love letter to fans of survival modes." This means that players are going to defend the observatory on Mount Zaya from waves of enemies, each more difficult than the previous one. The enemies are trying to get close to the structure and destroy it with bombs. Operators are given cash from eliminating enemies, which can be used between the waves for Killstreaks, armor plates, Self-Revive kits, and other items.

Activision will expand Modern Warfare 2's Spec Ops mission pool with additional missions on November 16 alongside Modern Warfare 2 Season 1. This will happen simultaneously with the introduction of the all-new battle royale map Al Mazrah for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. In mid-December, on the 14th, the first episode of Raids will be added to Special Ops.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
