The fan-favorite Shipment map returns this week in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Activision Blizzard detailed the newly updated map before the mid-season update launches. The mid-season update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 introduces double XP as well, allowing players to progress weapons even faster while enjoying the chaotic action that Shipment brings into the playlist.

The midseason update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on December 14 with double XP, double weapon XP, the returning Shipment map, and additional adjustments to the game's multiplayer. Previous Call of Duty games such as Vanguard and 2019's Modern Warfare have featured the popular Shipment map, which originally debuted in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Unlike prior renditions of Shipment, the version depicted in Modern Warfare 2 will be on a large cargo ship. Large cargo containers are towering across the map, providing cover against enemy fire. However, the cargo ship makes Shipment a more obscure map to navigate through, and players should consider spawn points before getting into the action.

Activision Blizzard's latest blog post discusses Shipment and its spawn points in depth before the mid-season update launches for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 1. Shipment will be added to the core multiplayer map rotation, so players may encounter the small map in map modes including Team Deathmatch and Domination. KorTac forces will spawn on the northeast corner of the map, which is designated as "Bridge Side." On the other hand, SpecGru forces will spawn on the southwest corner designated as "Drug Stash." Each spawn point features crates and cargo containers that may act as cover when heading into battle toward the center of the map.

Teams will rush down from the Bridge Side and Drug Stash to fight for control of the center route according to Activision Blizzard. In Modern Warfare 2 game modes like Domination, the center of the map will contain the capture point, so it will be a chaotic scene at all times. Since players can't climb onto containers this time around, all the action will be on the ground level. Fortunately, Modern Warfare 2 players may blast their way through containers with Drill Charges in an attempt to make up for lost ground toward the center of the map.

Shipment will be a "madhouse" of constant gun fights according to Activision Blizzard, and the map's layout appears to back up that claim. Activision Blizzard encourages players to play the objective in Modern Warfare 2's version of Shipment to come out as the winner in multiplayer. However, playing the objective will not apply in Team Deathmatch, so players must become familiar with the map for a hard-earned victory.

Modern Warfare 2 players can expect a festive version of Shipment as Christmas approaches. The Shipment map will be updated to include candy canes, presents, and Christmas lighting starting December 21.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
