Players of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 have noticed that the game features two Operator skins that are shockingly similar. One of the skins was added mid-way through Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Season 2, and the similarities have been noticed immediately.

Reception of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Season 2 has been mixed, despite the update adding a variety of new content to freshen up the multiplayer experience. However, Infinity Ward has another chance to get the game back on the right track with the upcoming Season 2 Reloaded, which promises new maps and even a new weapon. It remains to be seen if the company can win back many of the fans who have turned their back on the game, especially with those who have stuck by the title noticing another problem with it.

The similarity was noticed by Redditor The_Wun_White_Wolf, who pointed out that a skin for both the default Rangers 1 Operator and the Horangi Operator shared some strong similarities. While some small details are different, such as Horangi's full face mask, the broad silhouette is the same, and appears to use the exact same hood and cape. Players in the thread were quick to point out that the hood and cape were even used in two skins from 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which did not go down well with everyone. A few gamers have already called for the return of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Operators, and for some, it's certainly become a case of "be careful what you wish for."

There has been plenty of controversy over Operator skins in the game, even since its initial release. One of the earlier controversies was when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 added soccer stars Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Paul Pogba to the game. It was a crossover that didn't make much sense for the game, with much concern over how it would negatively impact the tone of the military shooter. This controversy eventually faded, though to this day they remain the only Operators based fully on real-world figures, so it's unclear if Infinity Ward will have much interest in adding similar content again.

The game has plenty of Operators for players to choose from, and it seems as though Infinity Ward will be adding more options very soon. It was recently announced that TMNT villain Shredder would be coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, marking a huge collaboration for the game. Though a portion of long-time fans of the franchise aren't huge fans of this sort of crossover since they that it strays from the roots of Call of Duty multiplayer, in an era of colorful skins and crossovers in most multiplayer games, Call of Duty is simply keeping up with the times.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
