Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players believe one of the game's newest guns is "pointless" due to an existing weapon that has been available since the game's launch. Activision and Infinity Ward introduce new weapons with each season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and some of the additions spark debates among members of the community.

Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2 launched earlier this month with new events, weapons, operators, maps, and much more. The launch of Season 5 also marked the beginning of major preparations for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's reveal. In fact, the title was officially teased by Activision just a few days after the season's launch. Moreover, players still have plenty of content to look forward to in Modern Warfare 2, including a major Season 5 Reloaded update. One of Season 5's new weapons appears to be under heavy scrutiny from longtime Call of Duty fans, however.

Modern Warfare 2 player SWAGLORIAN believes the new M13C Assault Rifle is one of the most "pointless" additions to the game in Season 5, and several Call of Duty fans share the user's sentiment. This particular weapon may be acquired from completing a challenge in the Shadow Siege event, as opposed to progressing Modern Warfare 2's Battle Pass for Season 5, which is the most common unlock method for new guns. Many fans believe the M13B Assault Rifle from the game's first season is a much better option due to its increased range. Some players also note that the M13C's performance is lackluster in gunfights despite the weapon's assortment of attachments.

The M13C boasts higher mobility in gunfights when compared to the M13B. However, the new gun has higher recoil and decreased range due to its shorter barrel. As a result, some players have already begun to switch the weapon out from their loadouts despite the comprehensive Modern Warfare 2 weapon tuning system being present in the game.

The introduction of the M13C has encouraged some criticism toward Infinity Ward from Modern Warfare 2 players due to weapon's shortcomings. Comparisons between the M13B and M13C further highlight the latter's lack of performance in mid to long range gunfights as well. Fortunately, player feedback may help Infinity Ward determine how to improve the M13C weapon if the developers decide it needs to be adjusted.

The Reloaded update for Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 is expected to launch near the end of the month. A new round of weapon adjustments is likely to be implemented with the Reloaded update, so players do not have to wait long to see if the M13C is among one of the weapons being adjusted during Season 5.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
