After months of waiting, fans finally received the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 update, and opinions are a little mixed. While this update brings some great tweaks, a handful of new weapons, a new Battle Pass, and a collection of maps, albeit reworked ones from previous games, it still feels like Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer mode is coming second to Warzone 2.0, which has just received a plethora of new content. However, Infinity Ward has assured fans that more content is on the way in Season 3, and that includes the return of Gunfight.

First introduced in 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Gunfight pits teams of just one, two, or three players against each other in a much more intense, tactical firefight. While Gunfight was a real stand out of Modern Warfare's game modes, and it continued to be a hit in Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, it's taken a brief hiatus over the last year and a half, and fans are ready to welcome it back with open arms. But along with the return of the mode itself, there are a few iconic Gunfight maps that should also return in Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Docks Map

Maybe one of the best small Call of Duty maps of all time, Modern Warfare's Docks map is the pinnacle of a Gunfight arena. A symmetrical map, Docks features two opposing raised buildings, with ramps leading up to them, and a bridge connecting the two. This tiny map has a surprising amount of variation to it, with players being able to snipe from the buildings' windows, hide in their bottom floors, set up camp on the bridge, or run straight through the middle of the map. Docks is simple, effective, and it should definitely come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's King Map

A similar premise to Docks but featuring an inverted layout, Modern Warfare's King map sees players divided into three lanes. The side lanes take players through a network of mid-construction buildings, while the middle lane sees players climb a ramp and reach a platform. Much like Docks, the amount of variation with this map is impressive, and the inevitable battles for the central raised platform can be some of the most memorable moments while playing Gunfight.

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War's KGB Map

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War also brought a handful of maps to Gunfight, some of which deserve a spot in Modern Warfare 2. Cold War's KGB map, in particular, deserves a place on the roster, featuring a long, well-lit hallway filled with bookcases, sofas, and other pieces of waist-high cover. KGB is one of the more streamlined Gunfight maps, even when compared to King and Docks, and that also makes it one of the most intense.

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War's Game Show Map

Perhaps the most visually-interesting Gunfight map in a Call of Duty so far, Cold War's Game Show arena should also be remade for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Set on the soundstage for a game show, players battle their way through sets, props, cameras, and dressing rooms, all featuring some eye-popping colors. It may not be the most satisfying or fair Gunfight map, but it is one of the series' most unique.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
