Fans of Activision's Call of Duty franchise are waiting to hear more about the next entry in the series, with a Call of Duty 2020 reveal possibly coming next week via crates sent out by Activision, and teasers already appearing in Call of Duty: Warzone. While all that is going on, Call of Duty: Mobile continues to receive its own content updates, but its developers recently confirmed players will have to wait before they can play a fan-favorite map on the go.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 began in early July, adding the multiplayer map Highrise with new weapons, modes, and perks. The game's developer put out a message on the r/CallOfDutyMobile subreddit yesterday about Season 9 launching next week, which it feels is "one of the best and biggest" updates of 2020 including content like the Gunsmith feature, as well as a new variant of the Shipment map set in 1944.

However, one Reddit user in the comments named Vijayender2088 asked whether Season 9 will add the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map Terminal, which appeared in a Call of Duty: Mobile public test build. The developer let them know it will not appear in this upcoming season, but fans should "keep an eye out for it."

Even without Terminal, Call of Duty players should have a lot to look forward in the mobile title's new season, such as adjustments to its battle royale mode because of Gunsmith adding weapon customization. There will also be two new events; "Last Refuge" offering login bonuses with hints about Season 9, and "Now or Never" offering a new epic Knife; to follow up on the Call of Duty: Mobile Days of Summer event.

Though it is smaller in scope compared to ongoing mainline titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, the mobile spin-off has retained a huge community of players thanks to its accessible platform and independent updates. Call of Duty: Mobile has teased "entirely new" weapon types being added sometime in the future, though it does not appear that will happen for Season 9.

The "massive" new update will add "fantastic features and content" even without a new weapon type, according to the community update on Reddit. Shipment 1944 should tide over anyone who wants to see Terminal added into Call of Duty: Mobile, though it's likely those players will not have to wait long.

Call of Duty: Mobile is available on Android and iOS devices.
