Highlights

  • Call of Duty titles for 2026 and 2027 may diverge in gameplay, with a Ghosts sequel and Advanced Warfare sequel planned.
  • Leaks suggest a potential return of jetpacks in upcoming games, deviating from recent series gameplay styles.
  • Fans should take leaked information with caution as details may change or turn out inaccurate.

Two Call of Duty dataminers have claimed that Call of Duty 2026 is set to be a second Ghosts title, while Call of Duty 2027 is apparently planned to be a follow-up to Advanced Warfare. Based on this information, the two future Call of Duty titles seem to be taking significantly different approaches in regard to gameplay.

An earlier Call of Duty leak revealed that CoD 2027 would be a Sledgehammer-led game, although that leak did not provide any details of its premise. Seeing that the studio was behind 2014's Advanced Warfare, the first CoD to introduce "jetpack" movement, many had speculated that the studio's next game could return to the fast-paced but untraditional approach, especially since the series has not featured jetpacks since 2016's Infinite Warfare. If the new leaks are accurate, the return of jetpacks seems increasingly likely, although fans will have to wait a few years.

One of Call of Duty's most famous Zombies perk-a-colas comes to life in a much smaller form thanks to a creative fan.

Twitter account Warzone Intel summarized the news shared by Call of Duty leakers Vondyispog and Visceral, who claim that CoD 2026 is in development at Infinity Ward under the codename Project Devilwood and is the second Ghosts game in the series. The leakers also said that CoD 2027 is in development at Sledgehammer Games under the codename Project Anvil, which will apparently return to the series' Advanced Warfare setting. Assuming that both titles base their gameplay on their predecessors, Infinity Ward's Ghosts sequel will likely feature Call of Duty's traditional boots-on-the-ground movement, which IW has heavily refined in recent years, while Sledgammer's Advanced Warfare sequel could return to the high-flying jetpack system that adds an extra dimension to movement. However, Visceral recently said that the two codenames are likely mixed up and that the suspected settings could always be misinterpreted by the dataminers, so fans should take these leaks with a grain of salt for now.

Leaked Premises of Future Call of Duty Titles

  • Call of Duty 2024 – Black Ops title set during the Gulf War
  • Call of Duty 2025 – Black Ops 2 sequel
  • Call of Duty 2026 – Ghosts sequel
  • Call of Duty 2027 – Advanced Warfare sequel

If the leaks are accurate after all, they probably won't be confirmed for a while, so CoD fans should try to keep their expectations in check for now. As for Call of Duty 2025, earlier CoD leaks claimed that the title is a direct sequel to the popular Black Ops 2 and will feature a mixture of remastered maps and brand-new ones. Apparently, the game was originally planned to exclusively feature remastered BO2 maps, but Activision chose to revise that approach after the lukewarm reception to MW3's lineup of remastered maps at launch.

As for Treyarch's Call of Duty 2024, other recent CoD leaks purported that fans won't need to wait long for its reveal, which might happen by the end of May according to datamined files. If CoD 2024's reveal doesn't happen by the end of this month, it could be revealed at Xbox's June showcase, a possibility that Microsoft seemed to heavily hint at.
