Crossovers in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone have been steadily building over the last year with appearances from Homelander, Black Noir, and Starlight from the TV show The Boys. Thanks to a post on the official Call of Duty Twitter account, fans know that Lara Croft will be the next character to enter the battlefield. An image showing the iconic Tomb Raider protagonist peering from a cave, looking over an active warzone with both pistols drawn was posted alongside the caption “Pistols ready. Prepared for drop in.” It’s currently not known when players will be able to access Lara Croft in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone, but fans will no doubt be excited to see Lara Croft appear in any capacity.

The last Tomb Raider was back in 2018 and while Lara Croft did make a brief appearance in Fortnite in 2021, the series has fallen into dormancy of late. This is in part due to Square Enix selling off the Crystal Dynamics studio to Embracer Group, but the studio has confirmed a new Tomb Raider game is in the works and is being built on Unreal Engine 5.

With the new skins being added to Warzone and Modern Warfare 2, Activision is hoping to keep players occupied as it prepares to release the next game in the long-running franchise. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was given a lengthy showcase at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event and is set to bring a wealth of new features when it releases on November 10. This includes Open Combat Missions which lets players approach certain missions however they want, as well as an open-world Zombies mode.

Call of Duty fans will have a lot to get their teeth into in both Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 in the coming months. Along with the addition of Lara Croft, it is expected that players will have new multiplayer maps to tackle when Modern Warfare 3 launches. Much like the last two Modern Warfare releases, developer Sledgehammer Games is expected to announce a new multiplayer map for Warzone in the next Call of Duty event in October.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
