The Call of Duty franchise first introduced the Zombies mode in 2008, and it has been a classic for over a decade. Over the years, the Zombies mode has evolved to feature new storylines and maps in an attempt to elevate the player’s experience and make the grind worthwhile.

The latest Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is Operation Deadbolt, which takes place on a version of the anticipated Urzikstan map. Unlike previous Zombies modes that were round-based and focused on smaller maps for players to explore and unlock, the MW3 Zombies mode follows the DMZ time-based style. Players head onto a map, search for staff, and exfil after completing the required task. This has raised concern about whether the new Zombies mode has a time limit cap just like DMZ.

Does MW3 Zombies Have a Time Limit?

Yes, Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode has a time limit. Players have 60 minutes to complete various objectives and exfil the map. This time-based extraction experience tasks players to survive as long as they can before the timer expires. During this time, they have to search, loot, and move around the map, which creates an exciting, risky, and rewarding situation.

Once a player drops on the map, a 45-minute timer appears on the screen. Players should use this time to search and collect loot or complete contracts, challenges, and objectives. Once the 45-minute timer goes off, the remaining 15 minutes are for fighting off zombies and enemies.

They’ll engulf the map to prevent players from escaping. Players must locate helicopter exfil locations and head over to exfiltrate before the timer goes off. The last exfil point appears on the map at the 5-minute time cap, and if a player isn’t at the exfil point when the timer ends, they die along with any loot they’ve collected.

COD fans familiar with the DMZ mode will likely have an easier time with the Zombies mode. The rising difficulty and ticking clock mean players must move quickly along the map, plan their resources to ensure they don’t run out of ammo, and pinpoint exfil points.

The new Zombies mode can feel slow-paced and boring since zombies don’t engulf the map from the start. Players spend a lot of time sourcing and collecting loot, waiting for tension to brew in the last 15 minutes when zombies engulf exfil locations. It’s essential to note there’s no way to extend the 60-minute time limit cap in Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies mode.
