It looks like fans of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies are going to have some new content coming. The first person shooter by Treyarch is receiving another major update soon, and the developer has just released the details. Zombies Outbreak in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is getting beefed up with extras in Season 3.

Treyarch continues to develop for the shooter, following the expectations set up by a live service title. Seasons in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War see new maps, modes, operators, and more to spruce up the game. Rather than a one and done expansion, fans can experience updates throughout many weeks of the new season. With Season 3, those who enjoy playing against zombies will have some new activities to explore.

While there are plenty of changes coming to Outbreak, first up is a unique Field Upgrade for fighting zombies. Known as Toxic Growth, this tool spawns an area of fatal thorns in front of the Operator that uses it. It slows down attacking zombies while doing damage over time, and can upgrade to dish out better effects. Players jumping in on launch week will need it too in the upcoming Duga map, which sees the hordes coming to the Ural Mountains in Russia. With various logs, transmissions, and documents to uncover, players will find out more about the Dark Aether plaguing the world.

That is not all though, as Treyarch is bringing some additional ways to survive against the onslaught. Also arriving in launch week are two vehicles, the FAV and Cargo Truck. The Fast Attack Vehicle is perfect for blasting through zombies, while the team can use the Cargo Truck for traveling. The team is also adding in special World Events to pursue and features like fast travel to higher difficulties. With more Outbreak Objectives coming to regions in Season 3, fans can expect more variety in any one round.

Over the years, zombie modes have become a series standard for Call of Duty. With all the competitive additions such as Snipers Only Moshpit or League Play in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it is great to see Treyarch build on Outbreak. With an entirely new map and tools, fans will be able to shake up strategies for the mode.

There is a lot of enjoyment to be had when Season 3 releases, but some players may question the storytelling. Dark Aether in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War seems to be a major part of Treyarch's plans for the Zombies mode. Though tying it to logs or documents is not everyone's cup of tea when surviving combat. Nevertheless, once the update drops fans can hop in with friends to battle against the undead in a brand new way.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
