Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies had a lot of questions that needed answering. Fortunately, Forsaken managed to bring many of the plot threads to a close, with the final cutscene doing a terrific job of setting up the future of the Dark Aether story. For Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players who want to see this ending, one last main quest needed to be completed.

Fortunately, the Forsaken main quest is on the simple side. Continuing the trend of new Zombies easter eggs being easier to complete, the steps are logical and there is not all that much that players need to do. Still, while it is short, the main quest is a memorable one. For those looking to complete it, the following steps should serve as an easy-to-follow guide.

Step 1: Lifting The Lockdown And Getting The Chrysalax

Like with other Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies maps, players are guided through much of the very first step. If they follow the objective marker, they will eventually reach a button that lifts the lockdown. This opens Pack-A-Punch, too, but before players leave the tower, they need to press another button. Near a telporter and to the left of a mystery box spawn point, there will be a red button on the wall.

Once this button is pressed, players can begin building the Chrysalax. The first part will be in the donut shop and requires players to get kills around a glowing orb. The second is dropped when players kill a Tormentor using a flamethrower. The final piece requires an Abomination mini boss. Once players have it, they need to lead it to The Amplifier and bait it to attack. If it shoots a Dark Aether crystal, it will be transformed into the last piece. Players can then head to the Particle Accelerator and place their pieces in an aquarium-like device. After surviving against some attacking Zombies, gamers will get to pick up the deadly new Wonder Weapon.

The Chrysalax can also be obtained via the Trials machine, mystery box, or Forsaken’s arcade games. Only one player will need it to progress the main quest, however.

Step 2: Completing The Lockdown And Feeding The Abominations

Next, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players will want to complete a lockdown by the teleporter they repaired to reach the Observation Tower. The area is labeled Fuel Processing, and there are different panels to adjust on the back of each pipe. Players will each need to interact with a pipe together, with the number of panels that need to be hit matching the number of players in the match. A tough lockdown will then begin, and once done, the first piece of the Neutralizer will drop.

While players will build the rest of the Neutalizer soon, they will want to turn their attention to some crystals next (NOTE: these may take a round or two to spawn in). Players need to destroy the floating orbs with the Chrysalax’s gun mode before they can start smashing each of the large crystals with the Chrysalax. One is found at the Storage Zone 5 Rooftops, the other is in the spawn area, and the third is in the Amplifier. Once one of the crystals is done, a special grenade tied to the next step will drop from the main crystal.

Before moving onto the next crystal, players will want to feed the spawning Abomination with the special grenade. The process is as simple as tossing the grenade into one of its three heads, with the beast munching on the item. Once done, the mini boss’s tail will turn red, and players are free to kill it. It will drop a piece, and after players have fed and killed three Abominations, Zombies fans will have all three pieces that are tied to this step.

Step 3: Building The Neutralizer

Players then need to collect the remaining pieces of the Neutralizer. First, they should head to the Board Room, which can be accessed using the teleporter players repaired earlier. They will also want to bring an Abomination with them. In the upper corner of the Board Room, a strange device can be seen. If players have an Abomination charge into the wall below it, the device will fall, and they can pick up the piece without any issues. For the other Neutralizer piece, players are going to want to head into the Arcade.

While it is possible to complete the Arcade step using another Abomination, it is far easier to do it with the Dead Wire ammo mod. If players head to the Der Eisendrache pinball machine, they can turn around to see a machine labeled Grand Prix. They need to electrocute a zombie in front of this machine to turn it on, and then they can spend some points to take control of a special ARC-XD. Once they have control, they need to drive the ARC-XD into the TV store while dodging Zombies along the way. In the store, they can enter a vent behind the counter, and they can then exit the car after it has let out a blast inside the room. Once players have control of their Operator again, they can head to the TV store to pick up the part sticking out of a hole in the wall.

With all the Abomination crystals and Neutralizer pieces, players can enter the final part of the easter egg. This is the point of no return, so crafting equipment like Monkey Bombs, building scorestreaks, and upgrading weapons is recommended. A ranged weapon would also be best for the boss battle. When players are ready to begin the final phase, they can build the Neutralizer by the debris on main street. It is to the left of the Tombstone machine.

Step 4: The Escort And The Boss Fight

Before players enter the boss fight with the Forsaken, they need to complete an Escort mission. Players will want to stay by the Neutralizer, as it protects them from the radiation outside. However, whenever the device stops moving, Zombies fans will need to head out into the radiation to scavenge crystals. They can then bring back these crystals to power the Neutralizer back up. Overall, this step is a warm-up, and it should not be too difficult if players are quick to get back inside the protective bubble. Overall, the sequence is similar to the bridge step of Outbreak’s second main quest, and it should not be too difficult.

Once this is complete, players will have one last chance to upgrade their gear and purchase some perks like PhD Slider. The door will then open, and thankfully, there is no time limit for the fight. Players will want to head into the Ring of Fire below Maxis to charge her up. Killing zombies in the ring will do this, a mechanic players should be familiar with. Once she is charged up, she’ll power up an AA gun, and players will need to do this for a second gun. Once done, players should focus on taking out The Forsaken’s shield, which is done by damaging the weak points on its shoulders.

Once the shield is down, players need to get onto a gun and fire it into one of the boss’s red weak points until he reaches half health. There will then be a short cutscene before the second phase begins, with players repeating the same exact process to destroy another weak spot. Once done, the final cutscene will begin, giving fans the answers they wanted regarding Requiem’s mysterious director. A special calling card will also be unlocked, which serves as a nice reward for finishing the quest.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
