Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies has introduced some great Wonder Weapons thus far, with the RAI-K 84 and CRBR-S both being big hits with fans. The latest Wonder Weapon could be the most popular yet, though, as it places a melee weapon in the hands of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War community.

Fortunately, just like the other Wonder Weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there are several ways to obtain it. While players can try their hand at RNG, the most reliable method is building the special Dark Aether weapon. Fortunately, the process for constructing the Chrysalax is extremely straightforward.

How To Build The Chrysalax In Forsaken

For those looking to build the Chrysalax, they must first lift the lockdown. This is required to unlock the Pack-A-Punch machine and turn on power for things like the arcade games. After this is done, and while gamers are still in the Observation Tower, they will want to press a button that is across from the Tower teleporter. It is by a tall, thin machine directly to the left of a mystery box spawn point. After this has been done and a few rounds have gone by, a voice will come over the PA system to tell players that an item has dropped near Main Street.

If Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players then head into the Main Street donut shop, they can find a glowing orange orb behind the counter. If players kill the Zombies spawning around it, it will eventually break and let players pick up an item. The next piece is tied to Tormentors, the explosive red enemies first seen in Mauer Der Toten. Players must kill the Tormenter with the Flamethrower for it to drop the piece. The final piece of the Wonder Weapon requires the Abomination mini boss. Players will want to take it to the Amplifier and have it shoot one of the normal Dark Aether Crystals. The crystal will then turn into the final part. (UPDATE: Any Dark Aether Crystal will work for this, so players can have the Abomination electrify an Anytown crystal for the part as well).

With all three pieces acquired, the Chrysalax can be built at the bottom of the Particle Accelerator. For those confused about where to go, the area will have a device similar to the one that houses Die Maschine’s Pack-A-Punch machine. Once there, a machine that looks like a mix between a coffin and an aquarium can be seen. Players can put their crystals into the aquarium, and after using melee weapons to kill 10 enemies by the device, the Wonder Weapon will lift from the liquid. It can then be equipped, and the quest will be complete.

Other Ways To Get Forsaken’s Chrysalax

While this Call of Duty Zombies easter egg is quick and simple, its one downside is that only one person gets the weapon when it is completed. As such, those that want a Chrysalax can acquire it in a few different ways. The methods are as follows.

  • Forsaken’s Arcade Games: Players have a chance of getting the Chrysalax from the chests that spawn in the Nacht Der Untoten game and the Der Eisendrache game. The higher the round is, the more likely the loot will be good.
  • The Mystery Box: Another RNG-heavy method, Zombies fans can spin the mystery box to try for the new Wonder Weapon. Once again, it is more likely to be handed out in the higher rounds, so players should try going for it at 30+.
  • The Trials Machine: Just like with other Wonder Weapons, players that claim a legendary reward from the Trials machine have a chance to get the Chrysalax. Of all the RNG-based methods, this is the most reliable, as it should only take a few Legendary rewards to get the weapon.

With the Chrysalax having unique abilities like an alternate-fire mode that turns it into a gun, a life-steal feature in axe form, and an ability to pick up crystals to restore ammo, it is extremely versatile. With it able to be upgraded three times via Pack-A-Punch, too, players should have no issues defeating the Forsaken with this weapon equipped.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
