Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Animal Crossing: New Horizons share almost nothing in common. However, this has not stopped one gamer from combining the intense military shooter and relaxing sim, with the artwork starring an iconic Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War character and a hilarious Animal Crossing: New Horizons meme.

While it is unclear what inspired the random team-up, it could have to do with the fact that both games are seeing their free content updates come to an end around the same time. Earlier this month, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 6 released, bringing the final batch of multiplayer and Zombies maps to the game. Early next month, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ big 2.0 update will launch, with numerous improvements on the way.

Whatever reason Reddit user usaokay had for making their crossover piece, it is hard to deny that the result is incredible. If it were not for one specific part of the image, it would just be a stunning piece of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fan art. In the image, Samantha Maxis can be seen inside the Dark Aether, sitting with her face in her hands and clearly looking defeated. Takeo’s katana is on her back, while the Quick Revive perk machine is present inside of the crystal-filled dimension as well. However, many will instantly recognize the item Sam is resting on.

Sam can be sitting on Animal Crossing’s beloved Froggy Chair, something that should get a laugh out of anyone familiar with the meme. The Froggy Chair was an item in several games prior to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but for whatever reason, it was not available to purchase in the latest title. For months, gamers made memes about wanting Froggy Chair, and Nintendo is finally listening with the game’s latest update. After over a year of waiting, the Froggy Chair will soon be usable.

As for where the Froggy Chair was for all this time, perhaps it really was in the Dark Aether. More random items can be seen near Sam, such as a teddy bear, Monster Energy can, and what looks to be an action figure of Team Fortress 2’s Pyro. Likely just nods to things usaokay likes, these items are hard to spot. The Froggy Chair is prominent, though, with the unexpected appearance of the Animal Crossing meme instantly making the artwork more memorable.

Still, while the art is entertaining due to the odd items in the background, it remains a somber image overall. With Forsaken’s final cutscene confirming that Sam is stuck in the Dark Aether, she is entirely alone once again - something that this art clearly reflects.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
