Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans are seeing a massive focus being placed on Outbreak content during Season 3. As a result, the mode is being made more enjoyable, with a new side quest speeding up the experience for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players.
The side quest is one of several steps being taken to get players fighting into the higher World Tiers quicker. With the early levels viewed as tedious by many due to the slowness and weakness of the Zombies, this is a welcome change. Thus far, players have found a way to skip World Tiers via the exifl beacon. A Ronald Raygun enemy type that is guaranteed to drop a Ray Gun if found has also been included, giving lucky players a boost early on.
The new side quest continues this trend, with Redditor The_GuyInShades being one of the first to stumble across the Fury Crystals. To begin the quest, players need to find and shoot a red crystal. Similar to side objectives like the Dragon head, it will be marked on the map via a unique white marker. Once players have shot the red crystal, they will need to find and shoot several more crystals that will be seen in the same general area. They will, however, be on a time limit, meaning that gamers should be prepared before firing into the first Fury Crystal.
In The_GuyInShades’ game, the Fury Crystal was seen near the Cargo Platform on Ruka. Based on other side objectives, however, there are likely several Fury Crystal spawn points — both on Ruka and inside other Outbreak regions. In the player’s clip, a timer begins to play alongside some intense music. The_GuyInShades then proceeds to speed through the area, shooting six different crystals before the timer runs out. While each crystal drops small reward like ammo, it is the reward for finishing the objective that is truly worthwhile.
If Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans manage to finish the time trial in time, an Aether Tool will drop from the final crystal. This special item instantly upgrades a weapon to Legendary rarity, which will see a massive boost to damage and guarantee that the gun is usable in higher tiers. This free upgrade will allow players to save a ton of salvage, meaning that the earlier the crystals are done, the more useful the Aether Tool will be.
While Outbreak’s upcoming main quest is exciting, it is side objectives like this that will truly make the mode feel more enjoyable to play. Hopefully, Treyarch will continue to add clever new objectives and upgrade paths like the one tied to these new Fury Crystals.
