Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans that have a knack for sniping should enjoy the game’s latest update, as a new Sniper Rifle has officially been added to the game. Alongside this addition, some important issues have been fixed, including a major exploit on the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War map Miami Strike.

Announced via the Season 2 Reloaded breakdown, the ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle has officially been added to the game. A bolt action rifle designed for long range combat, the weapon boasts a fast reload speed and best in-class bullet velocity. It is also a one-shot kill to the head, chest, and shoulders, something that is a must for a Sniper Rifle to perform well against other weapons. For those interested, the gun can be unlocked via the “Jackpot Sniper” bundle or an in-game weapon challenge.

Players going the challenge route will need to get two longshot medals in a match while wielding a Sniper Rifle. Like other midseason challenges, this needs to be done across several games, with the specific requirement being 10 total matches. With players needing to get 20 longshots in total, playing on a large-scale game mode like Fireteam or Multi-Team would be a wise idea. With the maps being far larger, there are plenty of sight lines. That said, several 6v6 maps offer some vantage points as well, making this one of the easier weapon challenges.

The update also made several fixes, the biggest of which was for Miami Strike. A smaller, brighter version of Miami, is the least popular map in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Miami Strike has proven to be far more popular with fans in the brief time since its debut. However, one major issue saw players getting out of the map near the Parking Garage. Fortunately, this out-of-map exploit had already fixed, and players should now be able to get through the area safely.

Treyarch also delivered on its promise to return the RC-XD to its former glory in this update, as changes have been made to its damage output. The scorestreak had recently been changed so that it was non-lethal to Flak Jacket users. However, the RC-XD nerf has now been reverted, and the remote control car will kill Flak Jacket users if it is close to them. Other aspects of the patch include progression fixes for the RPG-7’s “Science” camo category and the “Classic” Crossbow weapon skins. Dead Ops Arcade 3 and Outbreak also received some stability improvements.

Lastly, Treyarch confirmed that a fix for the increasingly common locked Crossbow bug is in the works, though no ETA was provided. For those still struggling, the studio recommends not leaving games after finishing a challenge.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
