Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 is shaping up to be exciting, as fans of all the game’s modes have something to look forward to. For Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players with a fondness for party games, the return of Sticks and Stones should be particularly appealing.

With Sticks and Stones not possible at launch due to a lack of the party game’s most important tools, fans were doubtful that it would ever arrive. However, the addition of the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow made Sticks and Stones seem like a legitimate possibility once again, and with the Ballistic Knife finally coming in Season 3, the stage has been set perfectly for the mode’s return. Fortunately, fans will not have to do any more waiting, as the mode arrives as soon as Season 3 is live.

While Treyarch has not yet confirmed which Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War maps will be appearing in Sticks and Stones, it has announced that the mode will play exactly like it has in its previous appearances. Players will be equipped with the Crossbow, Tomahawk, and Ballistic Knife, with Crossbow and Ballistic Knife kills adding to players’ score. Tomahawk kills will still bankrupt enemy players, keeping the element of strategy the mode is known for completely intact.

A fun twist on free-for-all gameplay, Sticks and Stones has remained a fun distraction since it debuted as a Wager Match option in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops. With the mode now coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it joins the hilarious Prop Hunt and intense Gun Game to form a respectable party game lineup. Hopefully, One in the Chamber makes an appearance as well, as it too is a favorite amongst the Call of Duty community. With Sharpshooter also an option,  there is still potential for fresh party games.

For those looking for something a bit more serious, the addition of Multi-Team Elimination should prove entertaining. Like Multi-Team Hardpoint, the mode will split players into 10 teams of 4, and it will take place across the growing lineup of Fireteam maps. Loadouts are restricted in the mode, meaning that players will need to search for weapons once they land. Redeploys will also be limited, and the game utilizes the same armor system as other Fireteam modes. Players can win by being the last squad standing or escaping on a helicopter in “the final safe zone” of a map.

Unlike Sticks and Stones, Multi-Team Elimination will not be available at launch. Instead, it will come later in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3, accompanying the new Multi-Team map Duga as part of the midseason update.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
