With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans encountering numerous bugs and having a limited number of maps to play on, players need some good news. Unfortunately, there will be one more hump for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to get over first, as the game's integration with Call of Duty: Warzone has been delayed.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s integration with Call of Duty: Warzone was announced to start on December 10, kicking off alongside Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Bringing the weapons of the latest Black Ops title into Call of Duty: Warzone, alongside new locations and operators, the integration has been a major selling point for Activision. However, a Call of Duty Blog post has announced that the December 10 date is no longer accurate.
Call of Duty: Warzone players looking to make use of 1980s weaponry or explore the new prestige ranking system introduced by Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will need to wait a week longer than originally expected. The new date for the Call of Duty: Warzone integration is December 16th, with players being given two free bundles as an apology for the delay. Players who log on between December 8th and December 15th will be given access to the bundles, which include operator skins, weapon blueprints, and other cosmetics.
While it is unclear what the cause is for such a delay, the Nuke event that has been rumored could be a cause, as the supposed launch of Verdansk's dormant nuke is set to be quite the spectacle. Beyond that, the potential delay could give the developers time to focus on improving the current state of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as the game's endlessly growing number of glitches are in need of a fix.
With there already being some pros and cons for Call of Duty: Warzone integratingCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War content, it is important that the transition goes as smoothly as possible for the crossover. With Call of Duty: Warzone being the massive success that it is, the integration being something negative for the battle royale game is something Activision surely does not want to happen. With the crossover introducing some complicated new systems, too, the delay is understandable.
Still, while it is only a week-long delay, it would be hard to blame Call of Duty fans for being a bit disappointed. The multiplayer content within Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will also release on December 16, ensuring that the Christmas version of Nuketown and battle pass arrive alongside the Warzone integration.
