In Call of Duty, the Ronald Raygun meme is a reference to jokes about Ronald Reagan's original cameo in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. This time, fans are also treated with a new Raygun weapon drop that is left by a specially marked zombie enemy.
However, this weapon can be tricky to get. So for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans looking to try out the new hidden weapon, here are some tips on what to look out for.
Unfortunately, the Zombie carrying the Raygun's chance of dropping is entirely random. However, gamers will know when it has arrived when they see a special zombie in a different suit and rocking a large pink mohawk. It is also important to note that the Ronald Raygun zombie can also appear in any map region in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Additionally, the Ronald Raygun zombie can appear at any round during the game. Typically, players only get the chance to consistently grab a Ray Gun until Tier 7 rounds or higher. But with this Easter egg, gamers can get the chance as early as round one if they are lucky enough.
As sad as it may be that this event can only be randomly triggered, fans should not be discouraged from trying their best to find the weapon. Many Reddit users have claimed that the event happens more often than anticipated after encountering the Ronald Raygun zombie once every couple of games. With those sorts of odds, it is safe to say that everyone will be able to have plenty of experience using the Raygun during this season.
This also is not the first time that Treyarch has dived into meme culture for their games. Last year, Treyarch incorporated the Coffin Dance meme in Call of Duty by making fans go on a scavenger hunt for orbs as part of an achievement. Last season, there was another hidden radio easter egg in the Outbreak Mode as well, with the goal of rewarding dedicated players with a special item. Hopefully, Treyarch can keep providing gamers with a quality gameplay experience while giving them fun rewards for the rest of the season.
