The third Season of content for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is less than a week away from releasing, and Treyarch has officially started to hype up the update. A brief teaser has released for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3, showing what happened after Season 2’s intro cutscene.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 teaser trailer is much like the one seen prior to Season 2’s reveal, as it is a mixture of original cinematics and in-game footage. While the Season 2 teaser used the map Pines, Season 3’s incorporates the Apocalypse map. In the teaser, Hudson asks Woods to recap the events from the mission to rescue Adler, with Woods confirming that the Nova 6 threat was nothing but a clever distraction and the operation was a failure.

According to Woods, Adler was tortured heavily by Stitch and the rest of Perseus’ followers, with the character taken to a new location. To track him down, the CIA used the same methods of torture utilized by Perseus’ group, eventually pointing to Adler’s new whereabouts. Apparently, he is being held in Verdansk, the iconic map from Call of Duty: Warzone. At the end of the teaser, Hudson orders Woods to “bring our boy home,” confirming that Verdansk will be the focus of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3.

This reveal lines up perfectly with the leaked 1980s version of Verdansk. Players can expect the Call of Duty: Warzone map to get a major redesign, with footage showing the dam becoming a bridge and the Stadium still being under construction. With different buildings fitting of the 80s aesthetic likely as well, the revamped map could serve as a major attraction for those who have wanted significant changes to Call of Duty: Warzone.

It is also worth noting that a Verdansk easter egg in Outbreak hints at the possibility of sleeper agents within the fictional country, something that could see Alex Mason worked into the narrative due to his experience with the program. At the same time, this may simply be an easter egg that is meant to hype up the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War crossover further. With players meeting Woods in a previous Call of Duty: Warzone easter egg, perhaps a quest of some kind will be added where gamers rescue the character in-game.

This teaser is undoubtedly exciting, though players wondering what new multiplayer maps and Call of Duty Zombies content are coming will need to wait for more information on Season 3. Still, with the release of the update quickly looming closer, that wait is likely going to be very brief.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
