Modern Zombies is shaped around the Outbreak formula, first introduced with 2020's Cold War, which takes Zombies away from its traditional round-based roots and puts players in open-world maps, with objectives needing to be completed in order to progress. Modern Warfare 3 applied this gameplay framework to map assets from Warzone for its take on Zombies, and some players have been hoping that big changes are coming ever since it was announced that Treyarch will be in charge of 2024's release.

This range of representation is a great indicator of how much respect Treyarch is paying to the history of Zombies as a mode, with Black Ops 6 hopefully taking and learning from the best of the franchise's past. A Zombies focus on the promotional material of Black Ops 6's Vault edition is also huge news for fans of the mode, with the lack of advertisements towards core multiplayer showcasing just how important Zombies will be in the upcoming game.

Already, it seems that Black Ops 6's Zombies will feature a lot more customization than recent iterations of the mode, with Zombies finally being given the attention and resources that it needs to flourish.
