  • Black Ops 6 ditches Carry Forward feature, a welcome change for fans looking for a fresh experience.
  • Modern Warfare 3's lackluster campaign led to changes in the franchise's approach.
  • Warzone will continue to support Carry Forward feature, while Black Ops 6 aims for a new start.

The latest iteration in the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 6, is all set to release later this year, and the developer has confirmed that it is getting rid of the Carry Forward feature in the game. The Carry Forward feature has been a point of contention in the community, but this seems to be a welcome change for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 fans.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 wasn't quite a successful outing for the developer. The prime reason for that was the campaign itself. While multiplayer plays a major role in the buying decisions of Call of Duty players every year, several fans are looking forward to experiencing the memorable campaigns the franchise is known to deliver. However, Modern Warfare 3's campaign turned out to be quite lackluster, and the extremely short length of four hours didn't help the game's case either. That being said, it seems like Activision is making some significant changes to the franchise going forward.

The Xbox Showcase revealed several interesting features for the future of the franchise, such as the all-new Omnimovement feature coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. However, another notable change that went under the radar was the removal of the Carry Forward feature. On the game's website, it is mentioned that none of Modern Warfare 2 or Modern Warfare 3 will be carrying forward to Black Ops 6, as the developer wants it to be a fresh experience altogether.

Warzone & Woods Operator Pack Will Have Carry Forward Feature

It is crucial to note that this doesn't apply to Warzone, as that will continue to support the feature, and Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, and Black Ops 6 content will be integrated with the release of Season 1. There is an exception to this, however. The Woods Operator Pack, which is a pre-order benefit for the pricey $99.99 Vault edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is also available in Modern Warfare 3, and players who already own it will be able to carry it forward to the new game.

Call of Duty's Carry Forward feature ended up opening Pandora's Box for the developer as many blamed it for being a cover-up for Modern Warfare 3 being too rushed. Not to forget, players who didn't spend much time in the previous game weren't quite happy with the feature as it put them at a disadvantage. On the flip side, several were happy about the fact that all their work didn't go in vain. With all said and done, considering that only barely a few of the old weapons are part of the current Modern Warfare 3 meta, it is probably not going to be that big of a difference for players, as the Carry Forward weapons become irrelevant pretty soon.
