Activision is finally willing to show players just what Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's highly anticipated Blackout battle royale mode looks like in motion. Today, the publisher released a full-length gameplay trailer for the Blackout, teasing weapons, character skins, and the classic maps returning to create Blackout's greater map.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode will feature a large map made up of subsections built from previous games in the Black Ops franchise. Within the trailer, players can see several map areas, including the Hydro dam, the Nuketown island, the Cargo docks, and many others. One match of Blackout will invariably break down into smaller-scale battles within classic Black Ops maps -- an advantage dedicated Call of Duty players will absolutely make the most of.

Seeing the map pieces in action is even more exciting than when Activision and Treyarch first made the announcement, and the trailer has many other details that are equally exciting to see on the screen. For example, there's a Monkey Bomb, a Frank Woods character skin, and even a zombie gets a bite of the action. Players also get their first look at the slowly closing Nova gas circle that bounds the Blackout playable area, along with the hallucinations they will experience if they find themselves within it.

Today's Blackout trailer comes as part of a marketing lead-up to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's next major beta event. Starting on September 14, those who pre-ordered the game on PlayStation 4 can check out Blackout for themselves. Xbox One and PC players, however, will have to wait until September 17, due to PlayStation's partnership with Activision granting special privileges for PS4 players, but the beta will end on September 20 for all players.

While progress won't carry over between the Blackout beta and launch, there is a chance that those who participate will unlock a special reward that can be used later. The private multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 had such a reward, and it would come as no surprise if Treyarch shared something similar with Blackout beta players. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases October 12 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
