Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has come with its fair share of bugs, with one new glitch tying back to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. For some players, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War items may be looking like they come from a game set decades in the future due to placeholder images from Black Ops 4 not being removed.

The glitch makes it seem like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is taking more from Black Ops 4 than killstreaks and reimagining of classic Zombies maps, as multiple icons and items within Treyarch’s latest game show off assets from its previous work. The Dual Wield attachment, for example, shows an image of the Saug from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This is only the tip of the iceberg for BO4 asset appearances, however.

In the memorable campaign mission Redlight, Greenlight, which includes a Burger Town mascot that poops M79 grenade launchers, one player discovered a flaw with the M82 sniper rifle. Rather than showing an image of the deadly weapon when going to equip it, Black Ops 4’s SDM sniper is shown on-screen instead. While this is a small bug that has no real impact on gameplay, due to the weapon being normal as soon as it is picked up, Reddit user Metoaga was clearly confused by Treyarch’s slip-up.

The next asset error comes from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer, with Redditor Lorenso0 getting a Prestige Master screen after completing a random match online. While Black Ops Cold War has a prestige system, the issue here is that both the icon and message congratulating Lorenzo0 are from Black Ops 4. Lorenzo0 is not alone either, as other players have reportedly had the screen appear when hitting level 94.

The final asset bugs can be found in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies, with both pertaining to weapons from Black Ops 4. One sees a Redditor named IronClooch69 shown an image of the Hades LMG when they go to pick up an RPD. Beyond that, if players slow down the footage when swapping certain weapons, text reading MP 40 is seen as well. Though the MP 40 may eventually come to Zombies, this is likely not how Treyarch planned to reveal it.

While these Black Ops 4 asset appearances are far from a major issue, it would be nice to see them fixed alongside the major Season 1 update happening in a few weeks’ time. While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is in need of the Season 1 cosmetics and maps due to a lack of launch content, the update fixing small bugs like this will be great to see as well.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
