With Treyarch having recently put out a patch in preparation for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Zombies Chronicles DLC, the developer and its parent company Activision have also decided to go ahead and release a brand new gameplay trailer for the forthcoming expansion. Of course, as one would expect from a promotional video advertising the chance for gamers to slay hordes of the undead, the clip contains a plethora of gory scenes, with the blood and brain splatters looking more pristine than ever due to the assets having been remastered.

As seen below in Treyarch and Activision's gameplay trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Zombies Chronicles expansion, Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, and Shi No Numa from World at War are set to be included, as are Kino Der Toten, Ascension, Shangri-la, and Moon from Black Ops, and Origins from Black Ops 2. Plus, the whole cast of Black Ops 3 are on display with Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Takeo Masaki, and Edward Richtofen reprising their roles to dispense the walking dead yet again.

For those looking forward to playing the Zombies Chronicles DLC, it should be noted that the expansion is slated to release as digital-only, and requires a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to be experienced. That said, those who go on to purchase the $30 add-on will not only receive access to the eight aforementioned remastered maps, but also they will get additional goodies including 20 vials of Liquid Divinium, two new Whimsical GobbleGums, and an exclusive Zombies Pack-a-Punch weapon camo.

Speaking of pre-order wares, PlayStation 4 fans will receive the chance to get an extra curio in the form of a dynamic theme for their console. Interestingly enough, the theme has been designed by Metal Gear Solidartist Yoji Shinkawa and it features the likenesses of the Origins cast depicted in Shinkawa's distinctive illustrated style.

While PS4 players will get access to the Zombies Chronicles DLC content first, PC and Xbox One fans won't have too long to wait, as per the the usual 30 day timed-exclusivity period ends. With this being the case, it will be interesting to see the financial of Black Ops 3's next Zombies expansion on PlayStation compared to Xbox One and PC to see if Activision's partnership with Sony is benefiting sales on the latter company's console in a large way.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Zombies Chronicles DLC is set to launch on May 16, 2017 for PlayStation 4, with PC and Xbox One to follow.
