Captain Price has long been the face of the Call of Duty franchise, and though he certainly knows how to handle himself on the battlefield, he's become most well-known for his clever way with words. Price has a very sarcastic and witty edge to his dialogue, which has resulted in him coming out with some extremely memorable quotes over the years; some of which are more lighthearted and fun, while others are a little more serious and really personify who Price is as a person.

Considering he's made an appearance in six of the games, there's a pretty substantial number of clever lines and quips that have become standouts, but which are considered the most iconic of them all? Price has a lot of pre-mission speeches that he gives throughout the campaign of Modern Warfare 2, but by far the one that sounds the most desperate and impactful comes before the final mission, Endgame. During his and Soap's final stand against Shephard, Price reminds his companion what is about to go down will be "For the record", meaning whoever wins will be the one to tell the tale.

Modern Warfare 2's story becomes more and more emotional the longer it goes on, to the point where it eventually feels like Makarov might just succeed in pulling off his malicious schemes, which makes this quote all the more relevant. Thankfully, Price and Soap barely manage to get the job done, after one hell of a chaotic final mission.

6 "They Say Truth Is The First Casualty Of War. But Who Defines What's True?"

Price Questions The Nature Of War And Where It Stems From

When he's not mouthing off at Soap or coming up with quick one-liners, Price can get quite philosophical when he wants to, as proven by this interesting quote at the beginning of the mission Turbulence in Modern Warfare 3. In one statement, Price perfectly sums up how dangerous the idea of "truth" can be, especially in wartime where something seen as subjectively true is all that's needed to escalate a conflict.

As the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur has made some powerful statements that resonate with players.

Of course, what is actually considered to be true or false in a war is entirely down to the individual, and for regular soldiers like Price, Ghost, and Gaz, all they can do is protect the ones who claim to be on the side of good. It's a thought-provoking quote that really demonstrates just how much time Price has had to think about the aspect of war, and how it even came to be in the first place.

For the most part, the second mission of Call of Duty 4, Crew Expendable, is a relatively slow and stealthy level where players are tasked with clearing out a ship of any threats with their silenced MP5 machine gun. It doesn't take long though before things go haywire and everything within the ship starts exploding like a firework show. When Soap gets launched back by one of the explosions, Soap grabs him, gets in his face, and screams the now iconic line "We are leaving".

Considering how chaotic everything becomes by this point in the mission, Price's brief words are all that are needed to get players back on their feet, rather than going down with the ship. The quote has also become somewhat of a meme among the Call of Duty community because of how sudden and out-of-the-blue it is.

4 "Why, In The Bloody Hell, Does Makarov Know You?"

A Memorable Piece Of Dialogue Said During Modern Warfare 3's Emotional Climax

Soap's death in Modern Warfare 3 is undoubtedly one of the most emotional scenes in the entire series. Just as Soap was about to accept his fate though, he manages to tell Price with his dying breath that Yuri, who plays the role of the protagonist for much of the game, is somehow familiar with the game's villain, Makarov.

Needless to say, Price doesn't take this information well and ends up kicking Yuri down a flight of stairs, aiming a pistol at his face, and questioning how Makarov knows him. It's by far the most unexpected reveal in the entire game, and Price's quote perfectly encapsulates exactly what every player was thinking at the time.

3 "Bravo Six, Going Dark"

The Perfect Way To Kick Off The New Era Of Call Of Duty

A simple quote, but one which really made an impact when it was said at the beginning of the mysterious teaser trailer for Modern Warfare 2019. By this point, fans hadn't seen Price since he took down Makarov at the very end of Modern Warfare 3, yet he showed he was still a soldier through and through with this brief but simple quote.

Of course, this line was accompanied by Price putting on his night-vision goggles, which have become a staple of the Modern Warfare series since they're used for so many missions. It's a great way to kick off the modern era of Call of Duty, while also re-introducing players to a fan-favorite character who clearly hasn't lost his way with words.

This radio message from Price couldn't have come at a worse time. Just as Price's voice manages to come through, Ghost and Roach have already been gunned down by Shepherd and his men, and are in the middle of having their bodies burnt to a crisp while Price can be heard relaying this message in the background.

The emotion in Price's voice, paired with the gut-wrenching musical score from Hanz Zimmer, helps to make this quote even more memorable. It also just goes a long way in showing how much Price cares about his Task Force 141 comrades; going through the effort of warning them while he himself was in the middle of a gunfight with Shepherd's army of traitors.

1 "What The Hell Kind Of Name Is Soap, Eh?"

Soap Mactavish, the main protagonist of Call of Duty 4, is treated as somewhat of a newbie at the beginning of the game. However, Price gives the newcomer a warm welcome in the only way he knows how, by making fun of his name. Sure, Soap is definitely a fairly strange name to have, but the fact this is literally the first thing Price says to his new squadmate, and his first bit of dialogue in the entire series, manages to make it all the more hilarious.

It's also ironic that, despite Price seeming somewhat impartial to Soap being on the team at first, the two would go on to gradually develop an impenetrable bond over the course of the games. Price has had his fair share of humorous lines throughout the series, but this one is definitely among the best and most memorable.
