If there's one thing gamers can count on every year, it's a new Call of Duty game, and 2021 is no different. Activision has already confirmed a new Call of Duty game for 2021, developed primarily by Sledgehammer Games, though further details on what it will entail have not been revealed in an official capacity. While Activision itself has yet to reveal more information on the next Call of Duty game, it seems its logo and potential title have leaked online.

Battle.net, Blizzard's online multiplayer service that hosts the Call of Duty games on PC, is now referring to Call of Duty 2021 as Call of Duty: Slipstream. Now, it's entirely possible that this logo is a placeholder and that the game's title will actually be something very different. Slipstream could be a codename for the new Call of Duty game, as opposed to the name that will actually appear on the box when it hits store shelves.

Prior to this leak, the general consensus was that the new Call of Duty game would be titled Call of Duty: Vanguard. It's supposedly set during World War 2, though leakers have suggested that parts of the game may actually take place during later time periods as well. Nothing has been confirmed at the time of this writing, though, so fans should take any information about Call of Duty 2021 with a grain of salt for now.

As for when fans will get to learn about Call of Duty 2021 in an official capacity, that remains to be seen. It's believed that the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale will be used to reveal the new Call of Duty game, similarly to how it was used to showcase Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, so fans should expect the reveal to take place at some point later this summer. Alternatively, there's a rumored PlayStation event where Call of Duty: Slipstream, or whatever it ends up being called, could make an appearance.

A PlayStation State of Play event is rumored to be taking place on July 8, where Sony will showcase a variety of upcoming titles for PS4 and PS5. There's some legitimate evidence suggesting that the rumored State of Play could indeed be the real deal, though Sony has not made any announcements just yet. Since Call of Duty and PlayStation have been close partners these last few years, it would make sense for the new game to be featured at the State of Play.

All of this is just speculation for now. The Call of Duty 2021 reveal should take place within the next couple of months, so the speculation should be put to rest sooner rather than later.

Call of Duty: Slipstream is in development for unspecified platforms.
