Call of Duty: Warzone players are always cycling through top-tier weaponry, as the game’s consistent updates kickstart new metas several times throughout each season. However, one weapon class that has been overlooked by Call of Duty: Warzone players is the LMG category, with the M60 being particularly dangerous.

What makes the M60 a weapon that Call of Duty: Warzone players should consider using is, ironically, its obscurity. With players not discovering its power until now, the hefty gun was not nerfed with the DMR and MAC-10 in the battle royale's recent balance pass. As such, it should remain viable for some time to come, with players of all skill levels able to rely on the M60 for the remainder of Call of Duty: Warzone’s inaugural Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War season.

Call of Duty: Warzone players should begin their M60 loadout by equipping a 22.8” Match Grade Barrel, as the attachment boosts range. Crucial to helping the M60 put up a fight against players wielding snipers like the Kar98k, the range boost is necessary for every M60 setup. Another attachment used to help the weapon succeed from a distance is the Axial Arms 3x scope, as the optic’s magnification is the perfect distance for a majority of Call of Duty: Warzone’s combat situations.

From there, a greater focus should be placed on making the M60 a bit faster to use. While it is impossible to make an LMG match the quickness of the small-but-deadly MAC-10 SMG, players can make a noticeable increase to the weapon’s stats by equipping a few attachments. The Bruiser Grip provides slight boosts to movement speeds, with the SAS Combat Stock doing the same. Lastly, Speed Tape should be equipped to help players aim the M60 quicker, as the gun’s default 75-round mags are large enough as is.

  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Bruiser Grip
  • Stock: SAS Combat Stock
  • Rear Grip: Speed Tape

While players may want to attach a suppressor to the M60, the cost of removing players from enemy radars is high. Significantly damaging the weapon’s consistent damage and range, this is one of the rare cases where a suppressor in Call of Duty: Warzone is not advisable. By using the loadout above, the weapon should be effective at close and long ranges — making it equally viable on both Verdansk and the smaller Rebirth Island map. With the M60 guaranteed to give players a fighting chance in every gunfight they come across, the weapon is one of the most well-rounded options in Call of Duty: Warzone.

With Call of Duty: Warzone’s DMR problem finally going away, a new weapon will soon be crowned as the best gun in the game. With the M60 going mostly unnoticed despite its immense power, the gun could easily become a fan favorite over the next several weeks.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
