Call of Duty: Modern Warfare introduced a new game mode called Warzone relatively recently, a further iteration of the franchise's take on Battle Royale games. With the start of a new season in Modern Warfare and the story of Warzone being added and updated, players are hearing more and more about it. As such, more players are more likely to join in and play Warzone for themselves to see what the hype is all about.

Players new to the game mode are likely to wonder where the best locations to start in are, and what areas they should do their best to avoid. Every location in Warzone has advantages, but some are simply better than others. Let's break them down.

10 Land: Storage Town

Storage Town is located near the airport and is also full of chests and weapons. Keeping this in mind, it is a good place to grab weapons for the entire team. With the place looking like a maze, it is easy to ambush enemy teams and eliminate them.

Being close to airport also gives players an advantage. Players can hide out there, or run into the hills to be camouflaged as they travel the map.

9 Avoid: Stadium

The stadium is huge, but players are not able to go inside it as of yet. This means players will either have to land on top or hug the walls of the stadium to avoid being killed. If a player is lucky enough, the circle will close on the stadium, letting anyone on the roof survive.

Apart from being advantageous in lucky circumstances, the stadium does not offer much. Players who are forced to land here would have better luck grabbing the car and driving to a new location.

8 Land: Prison

The prison is likely to not have any players drop near it, meaning it would be a good location to loot. With a helicopter in the middle, there is also a quick way to escape and travel the map. Some players might also get lucky and find a red key card.

If the player does find a red key card, there is a bunker located right below the prison. Opening this vault will give the player kill streaks, upgraded weapons, and armor satchels. This sets the player up to have a better chance during the rest of the game.

7 Avoid: Port

Port is full of cranes that can provide a good spot to snipe from. The only problem is that the player has to hope they pick up a sniper rifle while scavenging. Even then, there is no guarantee that players will be around to snipe.

While it isn't the worst place to start in, you will want to quickly move on. The only real reason a player should drop into Port is to try and find the phone that opens Bunker 11.

6 Land: Airport

The airport is a perfect place to set up, especially if it looks like the circle will close on it. With a terminal and hangers to loot, players are able to find a good selection of weapons before a loadout drops. If the circle happens to close on the airport, players who land here are able to bunker down in the tower.

The tower offers a 360-degree view of the airport and only has one real way to get in. People can try to parachute in using helicopters, but players are able to shoot them as they descend. Owning the tower gives players a huge advantage.

5 Avoid: Military Base

It might make sense to land at the military base - after all, a military base would be full of weapons and vehicles. This is not the case, as you find the same amount of weapons you would find anywhere else. Plus, if other players have the same idea, you can have a whole lot of squads competing for the same area.

As an important note, players who start here do at least have the advantage of camping Bunker 11. After another team opens it up, players can ambush them from here and make their way inside the bunker. Be prepared for angry messages if you happen to be someone who does this.

4 Land: Boneyard

Boneyard is a good starting point, as players can loot the wrecked planes and fly away on a helicopter. Before flying away, players can also lay traps, such as claymores or landmines, in the wreckage of planes for other teams to find later. With the circle closing in on boneyard frequently, setting up for later can be very beneficial.

This map is also very similar to the Modern Warfare 2 map, Scrapyard. Any player who was good on Scrapyard will be able to take down enemies while inside of boneyard.

3 Avoid: Train Station

The train station has a noteworthy indoor area and a giant roof. While being full of weapons and armor, it is best to avoid this. Players who land here are able to hide amongst the trains and surprise attack the player as they walk by. This can be very annoying, especially in the early game.

Snaking in and out of the train cars can cause the player to lose who they are chasing, leading to being ambushed or not seeing another team as they approach. It is best to get your gear and leave.

2 Land: Dam

The dam is on the edge of the map, making it one of the last places players can drop -- depending on which way the plane was going. Because of this, it most likely will not have that many players around it. This allows teams to loot the surrounding area and gather up vehicles.

Also at the dam is a phone that can start the players on the path to opening Bunker 11. Having a helicopter close by makes it easier for players to track down the phones. Even if they don't get the phone, they can get loot that will set them up until a loadout drops.

1 Avoid: Downtown

Downtown is full of high-rise buildings and alleyways. It is also full of vantage points and loot, making it likely a vast majority of players will attempt to land here. With the prevalence of buildings and alleyways, there is a good chance the player and their team will be ambushed as they try to loot the area.

Trying to set up a sniping position can be hard, as missing a player can allow them to run inside a building and snipe you back. While it might seem tempting to land here and prepare for the circle to close, it is better to avoid it altogether.
