Infinity Ward has big plans for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare next week. A new update is slated for Tuesday, April 28, and Infinity Ward was excited enough about the patch that it released some early details as part of Friday's Community Update. The most exciting addition for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players will almost certainly be the return of the Shoot the Ship 24/7 playlist. There's absolutely more than that on the way, though.

Patch notes are expected early next week, likely either Monday or Tuesday morning, but Infinity Ward revealed these planned changes. First is the Shoot the Ship 24/7 playlist, which now includes both Cranked and Grind modes. After that, Infinity Ward will also be adding more Gunfight variations for players to hopefully check out. Players will also be able to mix and match blueprint weapon attachments as much as they like.

Next, Infinity Ward teases some of the new rewards that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players will be able to seek out in the new update. The new mastery camo is named the Obsidian Camo, Unlike Damascus, however, Obsidian Camo will be individual per weapon.

Beyond the new content, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update will cause some unfortunate trouble for consoles players. Both PS4 and Xbox One Modern Warfare players will need to download a hefty 15GB update, which is required in order to access Modern Warfare. Even after downloading the patch, players will be prompted to download Data Pack 1 in-game. That's followed by a full game restart.

It may be a bit troublesome for Modern Warfare players to go through in order to get a relatively small update, but Infinity Ward feels it's necessary. There are a lot of bug fixes and behind-the-scenes changes coming in the update. So console players shouldn't stress over the extra steps necessary for the patch. It's all planned and necessary.

Season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now well on its way. There's still a ton of great content planned for the next several weeks before Season 4 starts. That includes new Operators, multiplayer maps, multiplayer modes, weapons, and more. And Call of Duty: Warzone is set to receive new updates, too. Stay tuned for more information soon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
