Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone were pivotal in the reveal of the next Call of Duty title. Shortly after the reveal, Frank Woods was announced as an Operator that could be purchased with preorders of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Modern Warfare fans were ecstatic at the chance to play the legendary operator, until they saw his face.

The Black Ops franchise runs on a different engine than Modern Warfare. When converting characters from one title to another, some distortion is bound to occur. Although understanding of this, fans were still shocked when they saw Frank Wood's Modern Warfare model for the first time.

For Call of Duty fans, Frank Woods is a legend. Fans have been raving about his zero-tolerance, get the job done attitude since his debut in Black Ops. Every new appearance of Frank Woods sparks more fan excitement, and Modern Warfare was no exception. Once the pre-order information informed fans that they would immediately receive Frank Woods as a playable operator, the Modern Warfare community became abuzz with talk. That is, until images of his advertised versus presented model started circulating. Quickly the new "Modern Warfared" version of Frank Woods appeared in memes, videos, and articles across the internet.

The difference in character models has to do with how Modern Warfare characters are built. Although the model has a vague resemblance to the well known Black Ops star, his face seems more rounded out and the details blurred slightly. His facial hair has been cleaned up and overall the model seems slightly off what it should be.

Some clever fans discovered that he appears at least slightly more accurate for players on PC when several settings are adjusted. Modern Warfare fans are advised to set anti-aliasing to Filmic SMAA and the slider to strength setting 1. This should provide some additional detail to the model at the cost of FPS and AA Blur.

Fans were astounded that they had to adjust PC settings for their model to look even semi-accurate. The fact that the famed character looked so bad originally put many players off selecting Frank Woods as their operator. Although the graphics problem can be fixed on PC, console players are left with the "alternate" style forcing members of the Modern Warfare community to deal with a lackluster version of the operator. Until then, the community will continue to make memes of this hilarious graphical downgrade.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
