Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and its Zombies mode have been out for just about a week, yet players are already uncovering many of its secrets. This includes several buildable items, including the Aetherscope, a new item introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Turn On The Pack-a-Punch

In order for players to being tracking down the Aetherscope, they must first make sure to activate the pack-a-punch machine. This is done by going through the Dark Aether portal near the particle accelerator, which then marks the part needed on the map. Once the pack-a-punch is built, players will need to re-enter the Dark Aether to pick up the Aetherscope parts. Another portal will spawn eventually once enough zombies have been killed.

Gather The Aetherscope Parts

In order to build the device, there are three pieces in total that must be collected. It should be noted that while these parts show up in the same locations, they can appear in any order. The first piece is located on top of the crashed plane in the Crash Site area. Players can easily reach this spot through the laboratory or the second floor of the main building. Players may also notice a few hidden details in the area's nearby graffiti. The second location of an Aetherscope piece is by the particle accelerator. More specifically, the part is near the staircase towards Speed Cola, right by an Aether portal and a zombie vent. The third and final piece is found in the spawn area. In the western Yard region, players will find the component under the staircase, and can now move on to the final step.

Find A Workbench

Once players have found all three pieces for the Aetherscope, they'll need to locate a workbench. Luckily, one can be found right underneath the pack-a-punch machine. Once built, the device will work for all teammates, appearing on the radar. The scope detects anomalies such as boss zombies and intel. Players will need to build the Aetherscope in order to complete the 'Die Maschine' Easter Egg.

The Aetherscope is actually just one of 14 different types of items, with developer Treyarch putting a heavier focus on crafting than previous Black Ops titles. The increased variety of items and weapons available in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War helps refresh the Zombies gameplay.

Despite the collecting of the Aetherscope appearing pretty straightforward, players should first make sure they have the best Zombies gun. Even if players aren't attempting the Easter Egg, it's always a good idea to have an enhanced radar.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
