New information regarding the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 content has been unveiled. Alongside a new trailer, players have discovered a short background story that helps tell the story of Vikhor Kuzmin, an ex-KGB operative. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans will have to deal with Adler's career mistake as Season 1 rolls out later this month.

The background is revealed through an ARG experience similar to the original Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War teaser. After solving a few puzzles, finding the right code, and putting it in the right console, players learned the background for the new season of content.

The next season (as revealed by CharlieIntel) will follow the story of an old enemy on his return to get revenge. After the Nova-6 production was destroyed, CIA team leader Adler tortured Vikhor "Stich" Kuzmin for information and on that night made a very powerful enemy. Stich has now returned for revenge, and Adler and his strike team must survive the Nova-6 gas that threatens the entire world.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's return to the Nova gas story is an interesting direction for the game to go. The original Call of Duty: Black Ops title followed Woods and Mason as they attempted to stop a similar catastrophe from happening. With the return of a classic threat and a new villain, fans can expect content that will most likely reference the original title.

It will be interesting to see how Call of Duty: Warzone operates with a direct threat. In the original release, the gas and civil dispute in Verdansk was caused by an unknown force. By giving that force a name, the story gets pushed differently with a familiar feel. It will be nice to return to the classic plot experience, but with the integration still several days out, many fans still have tons of questions for the development team.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will most likely grow alongside this plot giving the entire Seasonal content pattern a new feel. Rather than simply being a new operation, players can now partake in an evolving plot line that always folds back into the main game's core story. As the days get closer to the release of new content, the world's fate slowly becomes more and more threatened.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, Ps5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
