Spy × Family is one of this season's hottest anime (and has been one of the hottest anime of 2022), and there are collaborations popping up left and right in Japan piggybacking on its popularity. One of the most unique ones to show up in the past week is with Burger King Japan, who have opened a special "Berlint" branch of their famous hamburger shop. That's right, you can go to Burger King in the fictional city of Berlint right now; you just have to go to the very real city of Tokyo.
Spy × Family tells the story of two spies that enter a fake marriage, each for their own spy job, and neither of them know about the identity of the other. Throw into that Anya, their adopted daughter who is also a telepath and knows everything, and you've got the hilarious chaos that is Spy × Family. The anime is set in the fictional German-inspired city of Berlint in The People's Republic of Ostania. That makes Burger King is officially the first fast-food restaurant to open a branch of Berlint!
In reality, the Berlint branch of Burger King is actually a temporary takeover of Tokyo's Shibuya Burger King location. The hamburger restaurant has even added "Berlint" to the exterior of the shop, along with a larger-than-life decal of Anya Forger peering out onto the street from the second floor. There's a little life-size Anya on the door to welcome you inside, too!
The entire inside of Burger King has also been decorated to look like it's straight out of the fictional city. Brick walls, fancy wallpaper, and red curtains all make this not like your average Burger King. There are also plenty of photos of the characters from Spy × Family decorating the walls, along with some of Anya's most famous quotes.
Head upstairs, and you are greeted by a full size picture of the whole Forger family, and another Anya is also waiting at the top of the stairs. The Berlint branch of Burger King really isn't holding back when it comes to its Spy × Family theme, which is exactly what otaku want!
Finally, if you're curious about the menu, there is actually one special Spy × Family inspired item on the menu of Burger King all over Japan (and of course at the Berlint branch, too!). In Spy × Family, Anya absolutely loves peanut butter. Taking that into account, Burger King has added a special peanut butter burger, just for Anya! Peanut butter is not common in Japan and is seen as a very Western food, which also adds to the European-ness of the Berlint branch.
The Spy × Family Berlint branch of Burger King will be open until November 17th, 2022, in Shibuya, Tokyo.
