Bungie reveals new details about the upcoming Ritual Pathfinder mechanic and how it will impact vendor bounties and Destiny 2 players attempting to optimize their XP gain prior to the expansion's launch. With the Destiny 2 community feeling revitalized following Into The Light, Bungie has managed to keep that momentum going forward by revealing a constant stream of new details and information regarding The Final Shape expansion. A recent developer update gave fans a massive look at a lot of the new content coming in the expansion, from the new Dread enemy faction, the Pale Heart destination, and the highly customizable Prismatic subclass.

As with many expansions, players attempt to get a jumpstart on the leveling process for the seasonal artifact by stacking completed bounties so that when the new content arrives, they get a massive boost in XP. With The Final Shape approaching, the preparations have begun for most Destiny 2 players, especially since Bungie recently confirmed the new Power band pinnacle cap being set at 2000 and that the entire system and UI has been overhauled into a new adjusted Fireteam Power mechanic. However, for those prepping, Bungie provided a handy tip and warning for players utilizing bounties from the classic Tower vendors.

The Destiny 2 Team account posted a warning for players planning to hold onto Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit bounties, which are going to be outright replaced by the Ritual Pathfinder mechanic. While Destiny 2's new Pathfinder System was revealed last year, Bungie has announced that it plans to dive into more details in the coming weeks. The previous sneak peek showcased a branching tree system where players could earn more rewards by reaching certain nodes, advancing to a waiting engram at the end of the path. Considering this early look was made all the way back in August 2023, it's highly likely that the then in-progress UI has changed, though fans won't have to wait too much longer to see for themselves.

What Happens to Vendor Bounties when Destiny 2: The Final Shape Launches?

Still, this isn't the complete death knell for bounty prepping, as Bungie specifically calls out Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit bounties. While those bounties will be abandoned on June 4, even if completed ahead of time, players still have alternative ways to gain a head start on their XP, including specific vendors like Eris Morn on the Moon, the Dreaming City with Petra, Neomuna, Europa, and many other locations. For those attempting to prepare for the launch of Destiny 2: The Final Shape, there are still options, even if a few common ones have been minimized.

In the meantime, players have had the opportunity to complete their collection of deepsight weapons as Bungie made craftable weapons from the past four seasons much easier to obtain. Each day, Destiny 2 players can play a seasonal activity to earn Deepsight weapons. Better yet, the limited time bonus takes into account which weapons have yet to be obtained, giving fans a much better chance to earn the weapon they need on a daily basis.
