In its weekly address, Bungie reveals even more changes coming to Destiny 2 in Season 21 with a big tweak arriving to weekly player sources of pinnacle gear. In terms of seasonal updates, Season of the Deep looks to be making some of the most significant changes that the game has seen in quite some time. Recently, Bungie shared new artwork of what Destiny 2 players can expect in Season 21, showing off the return of the NPC Sloane, who was thought to be lost when Saturn's moon Titan was engulfed by the Darkness prior to the Beyond Light expansion.
Story-wise, players are still fairly in the dark with what Season 21 will be doing, though Bungie has been fairly open when talking about gameplay updates. Just recently, Bungie announced major tweaks to numerous Destiny 2 subclasses, with many underutilized ones getting buffs. Strand will also be getting 3 new aspects bringing some unique mechanics to the game, being tied to a pursuit from the Neomuna Pouka Pond. However, Bungie is also making a major change to how players can earn pinnacle rewards starting in Season 21.
For many Destiny 2 players, one of the biggest changes to Season of the Deep is that the Power Cap is no longer changing. Typically, going up slightly each season, player Power will remain as it is going into Season 21 and the Destiny 2 Pinnacle Cap staying at 1810, likely reducing the need for Pinnacle Rewards. In an effort to make evergreen ritual playlists more appealing on a week to week basis, Bungie is adding focusable Powerful Exotic engrams each week for simply completing playlist activities like Crucible, Gambit, Vanguard Ops, and more.
While loosing dedicated Pinnacle Drops will likely make leveling slower for players who aren't at or near the cap, Bungie has promised to keep an eye on how effective this system is and will make changes as necessary. However, adding a focusable Exotic Engram, which can be utilized at the Cryparch Rahool, gives Destiny 2 players another dedicated way to earn exotic gear. Being able to focus exotics is another new feature in Season 21 and players can earn more by finding them randomly in the world, from the Season Pass, or by resetting vendor reputation tracks.
One change which may not sit well with the community was Bungie's announcement that the Destiny 2 Season Pass price will also be increasing starting with Season 21. To this point, individual seasons cost 1,000 silver, but starting with Season of the Deep, the price will now be 1,200 Silver. While not a massive jump by any means, it could become cost prohibitive for some players while frustrating for others considering Bungie hasn't revealed why the change is happening at all.
