Over a year since it originally launched as a PS Plus title on PS5 (and PC), Bugsnax has received a new free update that adds an entirely new biome called The Isle of Bigsnax. The update adds around three hours of new story content, as well as quests, new Bugsnax to catch, decorations, and challenges. On top of the new content, the indie game has been released on other platforms too, like the Nintendo Switch and Xbox.

However, players new (or returning) to Bugsnax might not know how to start the new Isle of Bigsnax DLC content. This guide will go over what's needed to unlock the new island that's filled with gigantic bugs waiting to be captured.

How to Start The Isle of Bigsnax DLC

snorpy bugsnax

Before players dive into Bugsnax and attempt to start the new content, they should know that all the quests from Snorpy and Chandlo will need to be completed. For those that have already completed the game and have seen the credits, just press continue on the main menu to get to Snaxburg. From here, find Snorpy and speak to him. He will tell Bugsnax players that he needs help with an important task, thus starting the new DLC content.

To go forward with the questline and recruit the Grumpuses, players will need to complete the quests from Floofty, Triffany, Shelda, and Chandlo.

It's worth noting that brand-new players will not be able to start the new content at the beginning of the game. Instead of taking place after the end of the Bugsnax, it's more of a side quest that takes place during the main narrative, not affecting the story at all.

As part of the new update for Bugsnax, players will finally have their own house back in Snaxburg, and it can be customized. By going to the mailbox near their hut, players can take on challenges to earn pieces of furniture and accessories to deck out their living quarters.

The challenges will involve catching Bugsnax in different ways, adding an interesting twist to the bug-catching gameplay that the game is all about. There are also new trophies and achievements to unlock, so die-hard fans can expect hours of extra playtime with the indie darling.

Bugsnax is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
