One of the best parts of Bugsnax is interacting with the Grumpus inhabitants of Snaxburg, colorful both in appearance and personality. Each one has a line of sidequests, and some of Bugsnax's most interesting areas are hidden behind them.

Out of all the questlines, one of the more difficult ones to complete is Gramble Gigglefunny's, the Bugsnax breeder. The first two parts of his quest just ask the player to gather extra Bugsnax and complete a buggy ball obstacle course, something the players already do regularly. The last part, however, is a bit of a challenge.

While it isn't a hunt for one of Bugsnax's bosses, Gramble asks the player to catch some of the game's larger creatures. One of them, the aggressive Preying Picantis, requires a multistep setup.

Finding The Preying Picantis

Players can find the Preying Picantis in the Sizzlin Sands area, past the wooden bridge in the back of the Scorched Gorge. The bridge breaks when the player first tries to cross it, and it's only fixed after the player brings Cromdo, Chandlo, and Snorpy back to Snaxburg and sees the next major story event.

Putting Out The Preying Picantis

When the player first encounters the Preying Picantis, the first problem will be obvious at a glance. As its spicy name suggests, the Preying Picantis is incredibly aggressive and constantly on fire. If the player tries to use the Snak Trap or the Trip Shot on it, the flames will break the tool, and any attempt to directly touch it will just set the player on fire.

The player needs to use the environment and surrounding Bugsnax to put it out. There are a couple of ways to do this. The first is they can try to lure the preying picantis into one of the tornadoes spawned by a Flapjackarak.

The second is they can lure the Preying Picantis to the oasis in the middle of the map, either using the buggy ball or their own body. Either they let the Preying Picantis get shot by a water spray from a swimming Sodie D or trick it into going straight into the water.

Catching The Preying Picantis

Like Bugsnax's Scoopy Banoopy, the Preying Picantis is a composite bugsnak, made up of several smaller ones: an Incheritto, a cheepoof, and two tacroaches. Once the fire is put out, the player will see a countdown timer, and they have to stun it and catch it before it goes off and it breaks apart into smaller pieces.

The simplest method is just to use the Flapjackarack's tornado. It puts out the flame and stuns them all at once. They can also try to lure it in the way of a charging loaded spuddy. These interactions can be unreliable, however.

The most reliable method involves the Trip Shot. The player should set the line up ahead of time near the oasis, such as between two trees. Once the Preying Picantis is put out, the player can position themselves so that it runs straight into the trap.

Bugsnax is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
