In the social media era, there has been plenty of news that was broken first on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram first. As Vin Diesel clearly just demonstrated on his Instagram, that extends to movie franchises as well.
Over the weekend, Vin Diesel posted a picture of himself and Brie Larson clearly enjoying each other's company together on his personal Instagram page while Diesel himself announced in the caption that Larson will be the latest big-name actor cast in the upcoming Fast & Furious 10 slated to come out next year. Diesel couldn't contain his excitement while announcing the casting while also taking the time to compliment Larson for her previous work as an actor and welcome her to the franchise's family.
In the caption, Diesel wrote, "Clearly there is love and laughter in this image. What you don’t see however, is the character you will be introduced to in Fast10. You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie."
Larson, who is best known for playing the titular character Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the third big-name actor to be added to the Fast and Furious franchise's next installment. Alongside her will be Jason Momoa, best known for playing Aquaman in the DCEU, who has been cast as the film's villain, and Daniela Melchior, coming off her performance as Ratcatcher 2 in The Suicide Squad. Needless to say, there are plenty of superhero movie veterans attached to this project. Based on that, this film will certainly catch the attention of fans of the superhero genre.
The Fast and Furious franchise has been adding plenty of popular actors to their previous installments for almost a decade now, which include Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, and John Cena among others. So, Larson should fit in just fine with where the franchise is going. However, unlike some other actors mentioned here, Larson also has an Oscar to her name, so for all we know, she may very well pull off a true standout performance for a franchise many think only serve as popcorn flicks and nothing more.
Fast and Furious 10 will be released in theaters on May 19th, 2023.
