Players intent on crafting Elixirs in Breath of the Wild should consider Enduring Elixirs. These will add a Temporary Stamina Wheel to Link's overall Stamina. In order to make them, players will need to farm Tireless Frogs.

Unlike Hot-Footed Frogs, Tireless Frogs can't be found by cutting down grass. These creatures will only appear when it's raining, and even then, they only have two spawn areas in Breath of the Wild. Due to their rarity, players would be wise to grab as many as they can in one sitting.

Where to Find Tireless Frogs

The Tireless Frogs will appear when it's raining in the Seres Scablands (Hyrule Ridge) and the Lanayru Wetlands (Lanayru Great Spring). The worst part about rain in Breath of the Wild is how unexpected it can be. Usually it rains when Link needs to climb a Sheikah Tower or scale a mountain. Since Tireless Frogs only come out when it's raining, this gives players two options:

  1. Travel around Hyrule until it rains in-game.
  2. Rest at an inn or by a fire until Morning, Noon, or Night.

It won't rain in the Eldin, Hebra, and Gerudo Regions . Since the Tireless Frogs only live in Lanayru Great Spring and Hyrule Ridge, players should already know to avoid those areas.

The best way to wait for rain is to go to the Seres Scablands or the Lanayru Wetlands and set up camp there. Campfires can be made using Wood and Flint (or a flame weapon or fire arrow). Rain can come at any time, so go through the day cycle until it appears. Keep in mind that if there's a thunderstorm, Link will need to equip non-metal gear less he gets struck by lightning. Alternatively, he can wear the Thunder Helm if he already has it.

Refer to the yellow outlines on the below images for the exact locations of the Tireless Frog habitats:

Lanayru Wetlands (Lanayru Great Spring)

The quickest way to reach the Lanayru Wetlands is by Fast Traveling to the Daka Tuss Shrine. The Shrine itself doesn't need to be completed in order for Link to Fast Travel, but he will need to Activate it. If players haven't found this Shrine, the other way to reach the Wetlands is by paragliding southwest from the Lanayru Tower. Players can also reach the Wetlands from the Wetlands Stable (directly west of the Wetlands).

Be careful when farming for Tireless Frogs in the Wetlands. There's a Guardian prowling around , and it can be dangerous for those on a new playthrough.

Seres Scablands (Hyrule Ridge)

The Seres Scablands is between Tabantha Bridge Stable and the Ridgeland Tower. Link can quite literally take a horse from the stable and gallop on over to the Hyrule Ridge/Seres Scablands. Another way to reach the Seres Scablands is to paraglide southwest from Ridgeland Tower or southeast from Tabantha Tower.

On the above image, the Tireless Frogs will appear in the places marked with the star stickers. While this one is farther away than the Lanayru Wetlands, the Seres Scablands isn't home to any dangerous enemies like Guardians. Thus, between the two, it's the preferred location. Players can also farm Thunderwing Butterflies in the Hyrule Ridge.

Tireless Frog Farming Tips

If players don't want to chase around Tireless Frogs, they can be killed with a bomb or Shock Arrow. Unlike insects, the Tireless Frogs won't disappear after dying. This is a good, quick way to farm frogs and lizards in BotW.

As always, be sure Link isn't within the blast radius when using bombs. If using Shock Arrows, be sure to stand a good distance away before firing one at the frogs. When a Shock Arrow hits a body of water, it creates an electric dome that zaps or kills anything it touches. The Shock Arrows have a wider reach than bombs, so they're recommended if players don't mind using them.

Wear gear that increases Link's Stealth. This can be the Sheikah Set or the Phantom Ganon Set (DLC only). If players don't have the right armor, then they can buy or create stealth-enhancing Elixirs.

Also, players will want to remember the physical differences between the Hot-Footed Frog and the Tireless Frog. Hot-Footed Frogs are green and can be found in the grasslands; Tireless Frogs are brown and only reside in water. Cooking a Hot-Footed Frog instead of a Tireless Frog will result in a Speedy Elixir.

Where to Buy & Use Tireless Frogs

For those that get impatient waiting for the rain to fall, they can buy Tireless Frogs from Beedle at the following Stables:

  • Lakeside Stable
  • Serenne Stable
  • Riverside Stable
  • Snowfield Stable
  • Rito Stable

He'll have 5 Tireless Frogs for 100 rupees per Frog. This can potentially total to 500 rupees if players want to buy the entire bundle. Since rupees are so rare in this game (or at least in the beginning), it's not recommended to buy from Beedle until late-game. Players are better off hunting their own Tireless Frogs in their respective habitats.

Tireless Frogs can't be used to upgrade armor. However, they are a necessary ingredient for Enduring Elixirs, which can be cooked at a Cooking Pot. An Enduring Elixir will give Link a Temporary Stamina Wheel (yellow), of which he can have two at a time. Players will need one monster part and x1-x4 Tireless Frogs. The more Tireless Frogs added, the "stronger" the Temporary Stamina Wheel. Keep in mind that once Link runs out of a Temporary Stamina Wheel, he can't get it back. He'll need to take another Enduring Elixir to "regain" it.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available on Nintendo Switch.
