The enemies in Breath of the Wild can soak up damage if Link isn't equipped with strong weapons. At times, this can make it frustrating to farm monster parts from them. Players can avert this by giving Link food or elixirs that will greatly increase his attack power. There are also weapons that have extra attack power, but what BotW players should work on getting, is the Barbarian Armor Set.

In Breath of the Wild, there are three labyrinths around Hyrule that house Shrines. Navigate through them successfully to reap the rewards. However, players may want to have the Champions' powers, such as Revali's Gale, to make traversing these labyrinths a bit easier. Stamina is important as well, so make sure to exchange Spirit Orbs for at least two Stamina Wheels.

Where to Find the Barbarian Helmet

loz botw lomei labryinth island path

The Barbarian Helmet is located in the Shrine at the Lomei Labyrinth Island. This is at the far upper right corner of the map, north of the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. Link will need to glide with the paraglider in order to reach the island. Once he lands, the monk of the Island's Shrine will offer a trial.

This maze isn't as difficult as the other two, but it can be very dangerous thanks to the Guardian Stalker right at the entrance. This can be avoided by walking near the left wall upon entering. Be sure to equip gear that guards against Guardian Attacks, such as Midna's Helmet (DLC only) or gear from the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.

Follow the blue line on the above image for the exact path to the Shrine. On some paths, Link will need to climb to reach a ledge or ladder, so look around carefully. Once players stumble upon the Shrine, activate it, and go inside to get the Spirit Orb and loot the chest containing the Barbarian Helmet.

If players have the DLC/Expansion Pass, then they'll want to go beneath Lomei Labyrinth Island (from the Shrine) to get the Travel Medallion .

Where to Find the Barbarian Armor

The Barbarian Armor is in the South Lomei Labyrinth located in the Gerudo Wasteland. This is southeast of the Gerudo Canyon Stable. This maze can be approached on land, but it may be easier to reach via climbing. Once inside, the trial will start and Link will have to navigate through yet another labyrinth.

This one is longer and has patches of malice, which can damage Link if he touches it. Fortunately, they can be avoided, so just follow the blue line on the above image for the exact route. Like the previous labyrinth, this one may have hidden alcoves that require climbing, so look around if Link reaches a dead end.

Where to Find the Barbarian Leg Wraps

The final part of the Barbarian Set, the Barbarian Leg Wraps, is in the North Lomei Labyrinth. Unlike the last two, Link will need to destroy the Malice Eyeball before he can get to the Shrine. There's malice (purple highlight on the above image) blocking the road that leads to the Shrine, so don't bother climbing it.

  1. Follow the yellow line on the above image first and use an arrow to destroy the Malice Eyeball.
  2. From the yellow dot on the map, follow the blue line to the area where it goes directly south (on the above image). Look straight ahead, and there should be a torch. That will indicate Link is heading in the right direction.
  3. Link will need to climb up a ladder to reach the Shrine, so keep referring to the above image and use the torches as landmarks.

Upgrading the Barbarian Set

Each piece of the Barbarian Set will increase Link's attack power. If he's wearing all three pieces, his attack power can be boosted to 50%. The Barbarian Set offers no climate/weather protection, but its Set Bonus reduces the Stamina for Charged Attacks, which is perfect when fighting powerful monsters.

To get a Set Bonus, Link will need to upgrade each part of the Barbarian Set to two stars or more. This means Link will need to "free" some of the Great Fairies, which involves paying over 500 rupees total. The first Fairy Fountain costs 100 rupees with the second being 500 rupees. The third and fourth are 1,000 and 10,000 respectively, but for now, just focus on getting two Fountains.

The upgrades for the Barbarian Armor require some high-quality monster materials. Players will need to fight Lynels if they intend on upgrading the armor to the max. The Silver Lynels, while tougher, have a higher chance of dropping the materials Link will need for the Barbarian Set. There's a Silver Lynel at Hyrule Castle or in the Colisseum Ruins.

They'll also require Horn Shards from Farosh, Dinraal, and Naydra. Naydra will need to be freed of malice up on Mount Lanayru, but Dinraal and Farosh can be found flying in the Tanagar Canyon (near Tabantha Bridge Stable) and under Floria Bridge (near Shai Utoh Shrine) at night and morning respectively. Naydra, once freed, will begin its descent from Mount Lanayru (Lanayru Road - East Gate) in the morning as well.
