As a player makes their way through Hydrangea Hills in Bravely Default 2, they may come across a treasure chest that is situated on top of a cliff. To reach it, fans will need to cross a nearby stone bridge, but they will find that a tree stands in their way. Providing details on how to cut down that tree is the precise purpose of this guide, and players that read on should have no trouble accessing the last Hydrangea Hills chest in Bravely Default 2.

To put things simply, players will not be able to cut down trees until they reach the conclusion of Chapter 1. More specifically, fans can earn this ability by completing Truff's second quest, Human's Best Friend: Part II, which becomes available soon after unlocking the Berserker Job in Bravely Default 2. To start this quest, players should head north from Savalon, and they will find the pig man lying on the ground near a bridge.

After accepting Truff's quest, fans should make their way to Savalon Market and follow the onscreen prompts. This will ultimately result in the acquisition of some Schnitzel, which should be taken back to the NPC on the path to Wiswald in order to learn how to fell trees. Notably, while cutting down a tree is as simple as pressing Y when standing near to it, players will receive a brief tutorial on the ability before the Human's Best Friend: Part II quest is officially marked as complete.

It is at this point that JRPG fans are ready to return to Hydrangea Hills and loot the previously inaccessible chest. As a reminder, that chest is reached by staying on the west side of the dungeon while navigating through it, and players should chop down the tree that blocks the stone bridge when they arrive at it. They should then cross over that bridge and interact with the treasure chest to finally receive their reward.

With respect to what that reward is, fans that loot the last Hydrangea Hills chest will earn themselves an Oak Staff. While this is certainly not be the best weapon in this new JRPG, players that are in need of an upgrade should consider picking it up, as returning to Hydrangea Hills for the final chest is not an extremely time-consuming endeavor. That said, fans that are in a rush can definitely skip collecting this weapon in Bravely Default 2 without much concern if that is their preference.

Bravely Default 2 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
