Rhythm-based FPS game BPM: Bullets Per Minute is making the jump to consoles later this year. The console port will include all of the content released for the title so far, including the recently launched Overdrive update.

Developed by Awe Interactive (as its debut video game) and published by Yooka-Laylee creators Playtonic, BPM: Bullets Per Minute was first released as a PC title last September. The genre-blending game has been well received by critics and fans alike, with critics lauding its combination of FPS gameplay and rhythm elements.

For those who've yet to delve into the game, BPM: Bullets Per Minute is a heavy metal-inspired FPS rogue-like and rhythm mashup where players take control of one of several selectable characters called Valkyries, each with their own set of statistics and abilities. Players must shoot, jump, and dodge to the rhythm of the game's rock and metal soundtrack, where perfect tempo is rewarded and getting off-beat is met with punishment, and potentially death. Enemies are restricted to the same parameters as well, making the game feel like an intense, adrenaline-fueled dance. The console version will also include its Overdrive update, which adds new characters, weapons, and two additional difficulties: Hellish and Practice.

BPM: Bullets Per Minute's DOOM-inspired aesthetics and gameplay combined with rhythm mechanics make for a pretty unique experience. However, it isn't the only DOOM-inspired rhythm-based FPS game coming to consoles in 2021. Funcom's Metal: Hellsinger is set to release at some point this year, which promises plenty of beat-based demonic enemy slaughtering as well.

BPM: Bullets Per Minute is available now for PC, and launches on PS4 and Xbox One in 2021.
