Bosch: Legacy season 3 has wrapped filming, and fans are eager to see what storylines and characters will feature in the upcoming season. Titus Welliver will return as Harry Bosch alongside co-leads Mimi Rogers as Honey Chandler, and Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch. However, one character who won't be returning is Agent William Baron, played by Anthony Michael Hall, who was leading an FBI task force looking into Bosch and Chandler's links to Carl Rogers' murder.

Hall confirmed in a recent interview thathe won't be returning in Bosch: Legacy season 3, which raises questions as to what will happen with the investigation into Bosch and Chandler, with Agent William Baron's arc in Bosch: Legacy season 2 suggesting his character would likely come back in Season 3.

Anthony Michael Hall won't be reprising his antagonist character, Agent William Baron in Bosch: Legacy season 3. Hall appeared in five episodes of season 2 of the Amazon Freevee spin-off series, and his FBI character was a vital part of the story as he was the driving force behind the investigation into Carl Rogers' murder, and the season ended with him tapping up Mo Bassi to turn on Bosch and Chandler.

In an interview with movie fone, Hall revealed more about the reasons behind his departure from Bosch: Legacy.

Well, apparently, I don't think I'm going to be returning on ‘Bosch: Legacy’. It was interesting. It ended the season in a cliffhanger, so I thought there might be an opportunity, but it didn't play out like that. But again, it was a pleasure to work with those guys. I love Michael Connelly. I mean, they gave me a great opportunity there. I was playing a lead FBI investigator going after him, as you recall.

It is disappointing news that the former Brat pack adjacent star won't return in Bosch: Legacy season 3, as his character was very intriguing. It felt like there was more story to tell about his character, with some potential hidden motivations as to why he was targeting Bosch and Chandler in such a ferocious way.

It's unlikely Bosch: Legacy season 3 will drop the storyline involving the investigation into Bosch and Chandler, as so much was set up towards the end of Bosch: Legacy season 2, but the case will likely be taken over by a brand-new character. There is always the chance that Hall could return as Agent William Baron in a future season of Bosch: Legacy, and with the Bosch-verse expanding, Baron could quite possibly feature in the Renee Ballard spin-off series.

What movies and television shows can Anthony Michael Hall be seen in next?

It was evident from Anthony Michael Hall's recent interview that it certainly wasn't his choice not to return in Bosch: Legacy season 3. However, the actor remains busy with many exciting projects on the horizon, as well as promoting a new Netflix movie called Trigger Warning, which has just landed on Netflix. The action movie sees Hall playing a character called Ezekiel Swann, who is a dodgy senator, and another villainous character to add to his repertoire. The story focuses on a grieving daughter (played by Jessic Alba) who is trying to find out what caused her father's untimely death.

Hall has also recently wrapped filming on Prime Video's Reacher season 3, portraying the villainous, Zachary Beck, who featured in the Lee Child book, Persauder, which the upcoming season is based on. Season 3 was originally supposed to finish filming in November of last year, but due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, there was a four-month hiatus in production. Reacher season 3 will now air sometime in 2025.

Hall also has another new movie coming out in 2024 called Roswell: Delirium, which tells the story of a nuclear War that leaves a character called Mayday Malone being sent by her dying mother to reside with aliens, in the hope they'll save her life. Hall will play a character called Jerry Baskin, who could quite possibly be another villainous character to add to Hall's resume.

Hall has forged a successful career for himself since bursting onto the scene in John Hughes' classic 80s movies, Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club and Weird Science. Hall has been open to discussing his early movies, but he was less than keen to contribute to the discussion in Andrew McCarthy's new documentary, Brats, about the coining of the phrase 'Brat Pack' in relation to the actors, including Hall, who all broke through and appeared in many movies together during the mid to late 80s. In a recent interview with The Wrap, Hall opened up on his decision not to feature in Brats.

I politely declined because I’m always making new stuff and always moving forward and looking ahead. So that was my own impetus for why I chose not to be a part of that.

To be very honest, I’ve wholeheartedly embraced my John Hughes work because I wouldn’t be on the phone with you if it was not for John Hughes. I’ve been talking about my work with him and my start in the industry since [the ’80s], so it’s not like I’ve been avoiding that conversation. But with respect to Andrew’s project. I haven’t seen it. I heard it was interesting.
